Bank of America has announced the appointment of Greg Ransom as global head of equity research. Ransom first became associated with Bank of America in 2005 as global head of high-grade debt research and a member of the basic industries high-grade research team. Prior to joining Bank of America, he served at JP Morgan Chase as a senior fixed income research analyst taking care of the basic industries sector. The Bank of America's Equity Research Department covers 74 sub-sectors with the help of 66 publishing analysts.
Mercantile enters investment banking through partnership
The partnership between Stephens, Inc. and Mercantile's parent company, The South Financial Group, will enable Mercantile's commercial customers have access to investment banking services. The investment banking services by Little Rock-based Stephens include public offerings and private placements as well as mergers and acquisitions. The institution has acted as financial advisor on more than 100 merger and acquisition deals with total transactions valued at more than $101 billion. Mercantile Bank, headquartered in Orlando, has 19 offices and assets worth $820 million.

First Republic Bank has expanded its construction lending capabilities with the addition of Mike Burke as Managing Director of construction lending. With 25 years of experience in construction finance, Burke will be a part of a team that manages loans for the construction and renovation of single-family homes, as well as the construction of commercial projects and multi-family properties. Before joining First Republic, Burke served at Greater Bay Bank as vice president and senior construction lender in San Rafael.
