Description

The Director, Data Science develops, maintains, and collects structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting. Creates reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business strategy and tactics. Decisions are typically related to the implementation of new/updated programs or large-scale projects for the function and supporting technical/operational procedures and processes, and implements strategic plans, drives goals and objectives, and improves performance. Provides input into functions strategy.

Responsibilities

The Director, Data Science develops, maintains, and collects structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting. Creates reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business strategy and tactics. Decisions are typically related to the implementation of new/updated programs or large-scale projects for the function and supporting technical/operational procedures and processes, and implements strategic plans, drives goals and objectives, and improves performance. Provides input into functions strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Partner to create end-to-end AI solutions from conception to implementation, ensuring that they create expected business impact.

Envision, prioritize and deliver advanced data science use cases and production grade models in the Machine Learning Platform (MLP).

Ensure that our investments in MLP result in tangible impact on customers' health and satisfaction and business performance that can be directly attributed to the use of AI.

Recruit, nurture and develop key data science and AI Implementation talent, and act as a mentor to a significant organization.

Direct an agile team to deliver broad roadmap in sprint timelines with direct responsibility of quality of deliverables met

Closely collaborates with product management to translate the big picture strategic vision of the business customers into prioritized deliverables the team is accountable for providing to meet the long term strategy for full scale machine learning solution

Innovative thought leader for ensuring the AI strategy the team is developing continues to be a cutting edge solution to solve business use cases; responsible for fostering environment for continued learnings of recent AI best practices

Responsible for owning the end to end process from research and development to full scale productionization including quality reviews of large scale and coordinated AI strategic use cases

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics and/or related field and 6 or more years of experience

5 or more years of leadership experience

Strong leadership skills, culture shaper, talent builder, influencer and collaborator that must effectively engage senior leadership and the broad organization to execute towards common goals.

Experience leveraging large sets of structured and unstructured data to develop tactical and strategic insights

Experience developing and validating statistical forecasting models and tools

Experience interpreting and communicating analytic results to analytical and non-analytical business partners and executive decision makers

Clear oral and written communication skills

Flexible, dynamic personality who works well in a team environment and is also able to lead individual contributors

Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

PhD

Healthcare or managed care experience

Demonstrated experience with SAS, QlikView, SQL, PL/SQL, MATLABR or similar statistical tools

Experience performing data management, mining, and manipulation along with analytics
