The Lead Portfolio Manager will join the ATX Lean Portfolio Management Team and be responsible for optimizing the flow of value throughout the product portfolio through the enablement of lean practices. This role will drive thought leadership around organizational change, development and implementation of best-fit portfolio management models, principles, and practices pertaining to: strategy and investment planning, financial management, governance and operations, and stakeholder engagement.

Against that backdrop, Humana is seeking a Lead Portfolio Manager to join the Associate Technology Experience Team (ATX). This team has a laser-sharp focus on associate experience and is engaged in an organizational transformational journey focused on building an adaptive culture that responds well to changing conditions (agility).

The Lead Portfolio Manager will join the ATX Lean Portfolio Management Team and be responsible for optimizing the flow of value throughout the product portfolio through the enablement of lean practices. This role will drive thought leadership around organizational change, development and implementation of best-fit portfolio management models, principles, and practices pertaining to: strategy and investment planning, financial management, governance and operations, and stakeholder engagement.

Detailed Team & Role Description

Within the broader ATX team organization, the Lean Portfolio Management Team will work across teams and products to achieve the following outcomes:

Fostering Alignment Between Strategy and Execution within ATX

Creating / Maintaining Shared Accountability Across All ATX Teams

Ensuring ATX is Delivering Against its Commitments to the Humana Associate Population

Creating the Conditions that Allow Each ATX Associate / Employee to Derive Meaning and Purpose from their Work

Specifically, the Lead Portfolio Manager will provide value

to the ATX Lean Portfolio Management Team (and ATX at large) by supporting the stated outcomes with development and management of clearly defined and managed portfolio elements, including:

Strategy Guidance & Stakeholder Engagement

Establishing clear definitions of what value means for each element of strategy

Defining, clarifying, and socializing the interaction model between Portfolio Management & Product Lines

Creating intentionally designed bi-directional feedback loops

Ensuring that appropriate stakeholders are engaged in risk identification and mitigation

Supporting portfolio-level operations and providing oversight by partnering with key client stakeholder groups to define, analyze, and report out on portfolio-level technology and business risks, metrics, and information related to value delivery and budgeting

Creating an environment for evaluating lean business cases, linking business benefits to investments for funding and allocation requests

Management Routines & OKRs

Creating clarity with nested, measurable goals

Establishing cadenced management routines

Establishing consistent and clear anchoring artifacts

Defining and managing governance necessary to manage a portfolio

Ensuring portfolio governance processes and decisions are applied consistently

Assessing and reporting the health of portfolio-level results with objectivity, accuracy, and transparency

Escalating organizational risks and impediments raised by the product lines to the portfolio for mitigation and management

Helping to develop and apply successful lean and agile practices across the portfolio

Financial Management

Aligning financials to initiatives and value

Partnering with finance partners to facilitate the lean budget process, including the implementation of guardrails to guide product line budget management

Role Requirements:

10 years of experience in managing multiple large-scale projects

5 years of experience in Lean / Agile environments with a demonstrated appreciation for organizations in transition from traditional management methods to more Agile ways of working

Proven track record of managing in both direct and matrixed working environments

Well versed in multiple Portfolio Management methodologies

Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse leaders and teams

Experience overseeing large budget initiatives

Able to communicate ideas to a wide range of audiences from

Comfortable with ambiguity, can handle the unexpected with flexibility

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written

Ability to build strong relationships and manage expectations with a host of diverse stakeholders

Ability to build a culture of teamwork, collaboration, continuous improvement, customer service, and delivery excellence

Confident decision-making skills to deal with complex situations

Ability to mentor team members and others in all aspects of the portfolio- management process, including methodologies, tools and best practices

Additional Information:

For this job, associates are required to be fully COVID vaccinated, including booster or undergo weekly COVID testing and wear a face covering while at work. The weekly testing will need to be done through an approved Humana vendor, and unvaccinated associates should follow all social distancing and masking protocols if they are required to come into a Humana facility or work outside of their home.
