Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Associate General Counsel – Privacy Official. This legal professional will provide legal expertise to all levels of management in the conduct of company business for CUNA Mutual Group and its Affiliates with a primary focus on cybersecurity, privacy, and emerging technology. Effectively builds partnerships with business customers. This Position shall have solid expertise and leadership skills and will have primary responsibility and accountability for their assigned area. This individual will also work collaboratively with attorneys holding this role in other areas of responsibility.

Job Responsibilities:
With a primary focus on cybersecurity, privacy, and emerging technology:
Ensure protection of CUNA Mutual’s legal rights.
Represent CUNA Mutual’s interests with regulatory and legislative bodies in the various applicable industries including insurance, investments, lending, etc. Activities related to all areas include examinations, filings, product design and approval, licensing, authority, rating plans, and providing support to influence proposed regulations.
Provide legal options and opinions to facilitate reaching corporate objectives.
Ensure appropriate corporate legal compliance across all areas of the law.
Inform and advise business regarding legal issues.
Ensure efficient and effective provision of legal services.
To challenge self and others in a continuous-improvement environment.
Demonstrate CUNA Mutual corporate values.
Connects on personal level with others; adjusts style as needed to foster this connection; is sensitive to group dynamics and respected roles.
Proactively listens without interrupting; asks clarifying questions.

Job Requirements:
Juris Doctor degree and continuing legal education within areas of specialty and responsibility.
Authorized to practice law in the State of Wisconsin or applicable jurisdiction.
Generally, five to eight years of legal experience with overall expert status in cybersecurity, privacy, emerging technology, and related areas .
In-depth knowledge and experience in the processes and procedures necessary to effectively represent CUNA Mutual in the judicial system, before governmental and regulatory agencies and in legislative bodies.
Basic knowledge and experience in insurance or financial services industries and CUNA Mutual operations and corporate affairs, including objectives, strategies, products and programs.
Strong negotiation, analysis, reasoning, creativity, and judgment skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent project management and leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to present oneself and interact with others in a manner that inspires trust and invites consultation.

Compensation may vary based on the job level, your geographic work location, position incentive plan and exemption status.
Base Salary Range:
$125,200.00 - $187,800.00
