Humana has launched a search focused on identifying an experienced and influential leader to join our team in the role of Associate Vice President, Mergers and Acquisitions. Decisions in this role are typically related to intradepartmental coordination, development and implementation of strategic plans and business outcomes for the scope of management that are aligned with the Segment or Business strategy.
Responsibilities
Among other responsibilities, the incumbent will be accountable to:
identify, research, analyze, and negotiate potential mergers, acquisitions and divestitures to support our business growth objectives
make recommendations regarding the impact of possible mergers, acquisitions and divestitures on the organization's profitability
conduct appropriate due diligence to ensure the reliability of information provided by potential acquisition targets
work with business units to develop non-organic growth strategies, landscape monitoring, and proactive target strategy
manage private equity, venture capital, and various investor relationships
develop objective investments for review with management and Board Members
maintain perspective for potential internal asset restructuring opportunities
manage and streamline internal approval processes (Investment Committee)
manage inbound investment opportunities through strategic filtering
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, sales or a related field
8 or more years of experience working with mergers and acquisitions, business development, or venture capital
5 or more years of leadership experience with an interest in growing a business
Experience in strategic planning and business development execution plans
Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management
Extensive experience formulating partnership vision
Proven experience starting from scratch to develop, negotiate and structure complex deals
Ability to build strong customer relationships and drive customer satisfaction
Strong understanding of corporate business development, market expansions and acquisitions, and ability to align business needs and values to prioritize business development targets for establishing new partnerships
Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to influence and build relationships with people across all levels and organizations internally and externally
An entrepreneurial mindset and collaborative team player, including a high tolerance for ambiguity, a penchant for experimentation, and a bias towards action
Strong work ethic, detail orientation and passion for excellence
Knowledge of general financial and accounting principals
Experience building and evaluating financial models
Passion for contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
In-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across segments and/or enterprise-wide
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint applications
Preferred Qualifications
Experience at a Top Tier M&A investment banking practice, M&A advisory firm or private equity firm
Master's degree
Healthcare industry, project management, and/or private equity experience
Additional Information
Strong location preferences include Humana's offices in Washington, DC or Louisville, KY or Boston, MA
Requires approximately 30% travel as business needs dictate
