Data science is the multi-disciplined practice of extracting value from data—problem-solving using curiosity, scientific methods, processes, and outputs of algorithms, platforms, and systems to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data. Decision Science professionals answer business questions, using basic queries, tabulations and statistical techniques to understand and explain business performance and identify business opportunities.

The Product Decision Science team is responsible for creating & sharing out product insights using internal Best Buy data. This team strives to be the subject matter experts on product data and to deliver state of the art analyses to our business partners.

As the

Senior Manager of Decision Science

you will work to provide valuable information to the enterprise. The primary responsibilities of the position include:

Manage, coach and develop a team of 1-4 Data Analysts.

Manage analytics projects that will require engagement and influence of cross-functional teams.

Drive business results through performing analytics and leading clients to a holistic understanding of how their business quantitatively operates.

Lead scoping sessions with business clients.

Frame and structure engagement goals and the analysis approach.

Use project management skills to delegate tasks to direct reports and cross functional team members.

Perform complex analytics using scientific methods that rely upon mathematics, statistics, and hypothesis testing.

Write code using one or more of the following languages: SAS, SQL, Python, and/or R as applicable to the engagement and/or build complex Tableau and/or Power BI workspaces suited for the analytical exploration of datasets.

Create presentation-ready material utilizing tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Microsoft Office.

Provide work direction, including the review, edit and approval of analytics and deliverables, for direct reports and cross-functional team members.

Lead client delivery meetings to show how analytics drive business results.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field

7 years of experience in retail, analytics, business, or related area

5 years of experience applying analytical techniques to answer business questions or scientific questions

2 years of formal or informal leadership experience

2 years of experience managing projects

Experience with analytical tools (SQL, SAS, Python, R, or related)

Preferred Qualifications:

1 years of experience presenting to all levels of an organization

Master’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Physical Sciences, Computer Sciences, or similar field with quantitative rigor
