The firm is seeking an experienced commercial litigator with 10 to 20 years of experience to join our office in Cleveland, Ohio. A top candidate for the position has 10 years of complex commercial litigation experience, with first chair experience handling bench and jury trials in state and federal courts. Experience in financial services litigation is a plus but not required. In this role, you will assist our team in representing clients in commercial litigation, including working with financial institution clients and representing them in state, federal, and appellate actions. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned attorney to further hone his or her litigation skills in a culture that values mentorship, collaboration, and hard work. Candidates must be actively licensed to practice law in Ohio and in good standing. A portable book of business is preferred but not required for this position.
Requirements of the position:
10 years of prior experience in commercial litigation. Financial services litigation experience is a plus but not required.
A current license to practice law in the state of Ohio.
Experience as first or second chair counsel in jury and bench trials in state and/or federal courts
Excellent writing skills in drafting complaints, answers, motions, and other pleadings.
Experience in creating strategies for case development, related written and deposition discovery, and trial.
Ability to distill research into meaningful and persuasive written work product and to work meticulously to ensure the quality of work product.
Experience with managing, directing, and mentoring junior attorneys in commercial litigation matters, including internal staffing, pre-litigation dispute resolution, preparation and review of pleadings and other court documents, and advising business leaders on strategy and resolution of commercial matters.
