Bristol Myers Squibb’s Cell Therapy business is entering an exciting new phase as it begins the commercialization of its first Cell Therapy products. Commercialization drives new scope, scale, and complexity across the network, and requires manufacturing sites, global organizations, and Information Technology (IT) systems to work together in new ways.
The Associate Director, Portfolio Manager for Business Process Management (BPM Portfolio Manager, Cell Therapy) works with the Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) team to organization, management, and communication of the portfolio of projects and enhancements to enable CTDO late stage clinical and commercial operations. This team works directly with business users across Cell Therapy Development and Operations (CTDO) and IT systems to solicit demands, prioritize them, and move them through a process that assigns business and/or IT SMEs to delivery teams.
The BPM Portfolio Manager is a key leader within the Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) team. The BPM Portfolio Manager works collaboratively with Global Business Process Owners and delivery teams to understand both road maps for desired future capabilities as well as immediate urgent needs, and then facilitate with the PPM Project Managers the building and management of the portfolio. The BPM Portfolio Manager also is responsible for supplying reporting and insights into the portfolio for communication to leadership, PPM partners, and PPM customers.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Work cross-functionally, including with IT and various process domains to support Cell Therapy
Own the portfolio management process, standards, tools, and templates
Partner with PPM team members to drive effective operation of the end-to-end portfolio management process
Lead forums with Global Business Process Owners and other cross-functional stakeholders to intake and understand problems and innovations
Separate problems from solutions, and ensures problems are well understood before committing valuable delivery resources to solve them
Prioritize portfolio items based on defined criteria and an understanding of strategic objectives, business milestones, and other drivers
Understand key alignment/interdependencies across the portfolio, including those portfolios not under the BPM portfolio management purview
Work with stakeholders and delivery team(s) to logically group projects for efficient delivery
Understand the impact of portfolio additions and/or changes on resources (people and budget), sequencing and delivery
Enable continuous improvement opportunities as well as innovation of the portfolio management process
Track, manage and communicate portfolio management success metrics.
Drive productive discourse between Global Business Process Owners to refine Cell Therapy requirements.
Facilitate decision-making within the portfolio management process and escalation to governing bodies
Generate insightful reports and communications to inform a very broad stakeholder community of progress, expected deliveries, and future plans
Engage with Business Process Management leaders and portfolio partners to inform them on portfolio status
Skills/Knowledge Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Information Systems, Business or Engineering.
10 years of experience in supply chain or manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical industry preferred).
Excellent knowledge of and competency in project and portfolio management processes, including planning, allocating resources, risk and issue management
Experience with large projects or programs, e.g., roll out of a IT system like ERP (SAP, Oracle, JDE)
Ability to work and drive issues to resolution independently and cooperatively in a diverse group
Ability to provide leadership, guidance and coaching to members of the organization
Demonstrates high degree of executive presence with ability to deliver executive level presentations, challenge assumptions and drive decision making
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Advance knowledge of personal computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, SmartSheet, etc.
Ability to travel 10%
