Description

Humana is an $80 billion (Fortune 41) market leader in integrated healthcare with a clearly defined purpose to help people achieve lifelong well-being. As a company focused on the health and well-being of the people we serve, Humana is committed to advancing the employment experience and vitality of the associate community. Through offerings anchored in a whole-person view of human well-being, Humana embraces a focus on stimulating positive individual and population changes while nurturing a sense of security, enabling people to live life fully and be their most productive.

Against that backdrop, we are seeking a talented and experienced leader to join our team as Associate Vice President, Portfolio Management. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer of our multi-billion dollar Healthcare Services (HCS) and Digital Health & Analytics (DH&A) business segments, you will oversee a $250 million portfolio of IT projects. This will require you to organize and prioritize projects and programs based on IT strategy, roadmap, and budgets, as well as change schedules as needed to ensure the proper allocation of appropriate financial and organizational support of established goals.

You will also lead culture, communication, and engagement initiatives across the 650-employee (2,000 people including contractors) IT organization that supports HCS and DH&A. In addition, you will hold 'chief of staff' responsbilities, working across the CIO's organization to drive accountability for the completion of key deliverables, partnering with the CIO to develop and execute strategy, and serving as the CIO's proxy throughout Humana as needed.

You will directly lead a team of 10-15 employees, including three direct reports. This position can be located anywhere within the lower 48 states, although Washington, D.C. or Louisville, KY would be ideal locations.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Work with key HCS and corporate strategy leaders to establish a multi-year business roadmap and support technology capability requirements.

Determine prioritizing and allocating funding requirements, and balance organization capability / capacity to deliver on strategic IT portfolio investments.

Manage the technology portfolio investments at an aggregate level and re-balance when needed.

Monitor the progression of investment delivery to ensure business needs are satisfied against expectations.

Direct oversight of the project management resources executing the portfolio investments.

Develop and execute the strategy to provide effective organizational communication to business partners and associates, including regularly scheduled written messages and live events.

Assist the CIO in the external branding of the organization and the development/coordination of external presentations for the CIO.

Provide communications strategies and tactical support for major, team-wide launch of new technologies and tools, including messages targeting impacted tech user communities.

Develop and implement strategy to drive behavioral change enabling the organization's desired associate experience and work culture.

Coordinate team and corporate-initiated projects and initiatives including preparation of the annual strategic plan and guide all to completion.

Develop plans of action to prevent delays in projects and/or the department's workflow.

With minimal supervision, exercise independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks.

Use independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determine the best course of action.

Manage the team calendar and ensure deadlines are being met.

Key Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree and extensive (typically 8 years) of technical and leadership experience, along with solid financial acumen. This person will have a record of success in managing multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail, particularly in scenarios that require strong influencing skills to achieve results. He/she should also have an advanced level of experience leading special projects and producing metrics, measurements and trends.

In addition to the above, the following technical/professional credentials and personal attributes are also sought:

Current or recent leadership experience in a large (i.e., Fortune 250) company.
