The Role
We are currently seeking a Lawyer with 2-4 years’ PQE in commercial litigation and/or insolvency law.  This role sits within the Litigation, Insolvency and Regulatory Group and will work alongside directors and senior lawyers on a breadth of high-quality commercial litigation and insolvency work.
The Team
Watson Mangioni’s Litigation, Insolvency, Regulatory Group (LIRG) conducts a broad range of commercial litigation, insolvency and regulatory work.  Areas of specialist expertise include contract disputes; corporations law; shareholder and partnership disputes; trade practices, corporations law, intellectual property, real property, professional negligence, employment and estate law.
The group advises and acts for many ASX listed companies, corporate advisors, professional firms, insolvency practitioners, large private companies and high net worth families and individuals.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
Day to day carriage, under the supervision of a senior lawyer, of a broad range of commercial litigation matters including commercial disputes, contract disputes, shareholder disputes, regulatory examinations, investigations and other proceedings.
Drafting and serve statutory demands and bankruptcy notices and pursue winding up proceedings and creditor’s petitions.
Appearances in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the Federal Court of Australia in proceedings of various kinds, both with and without counsel as required.
Liaising with and advise clients regarding their rights, obligations, alternatives and prospects.
Preparing pleadings, motions, affidavit evidence, subpoenas, notices to produce and other court documents.
Briefing, conferring with and instructing counsel.
Qualifications, skills & experience
Required qualifications, skills and experience include:
A current Australian practising certificate with approximately 2-4 years’ PQE predominantly as a commercial litigation and/or insolvency lawyer.
Ability to manage competing tasks and priorities.
Understanding and appreciation of the importance of confidentiality in areas of particular commercial and client sensitivity.
Organised and methodical with the ability to multi-task.
Self-sufficient with a common-sense approach.
High proficiency in MS Office suite.
Proven team management skills.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
A commitment to high work standards and strong attention to detail.
A proactive and forward-thinking attitude, adopting tasks with a can-do attitude.
A willingness to learn and develop others through mentoring and training.
An ability to be agile and work well in a team environment.
