About this role:
Head of Capital Management
The Head of Capital Management reports to the Treasurer and is responsible for the ongoing evaluation of capital adequacy, capital forecasting and planning, resolution & recovery planning for capital, legal entity capital management, advocacy efforts on capital matters and capital stress testing which includes the Company's annual CCAR submission. Additional responsibilities include management of the Company's capital allocation and funds transfer pricing (FTP) frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the Company's capital position, targets, and risk appetite meet regulatory requirements and consider the impacts of business priorities.
Continue to advance the capital assessment framework to evaluate capital requirements at the segment and product level as a result of the stress capital buffer (SCB); determine appropriate implications for segment capital allocations.
Maintain high quality planning and regulatory reporting activities, including the annual Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) process, and Capital Recovery and Resolution planning in a manner that achieves both financial risk management and return of capital objectives in the most efficient manner possible.
Engage with key partners to drive advocacy on regulatory capital matters while ensuring the Company is prepared for upcoming regulatory changes.
Manage the Company's performance measurement framework (capital allocations and funds transfer pricing), as well as proactively engage with the various line of business and finance teams to advance the use of the framework in various tools and profitability assessments.
The Candidate:
This leader will manage a team with approximately 23 team members. Leadership and credibility will be key determining factors in selection. Successful candidates will be excellent communicators and possess a demonstrated leadership capability; they will have strong inter-personal effectiveness. The role requires a sense of urgency, passion for results, and personal accountability. Strong analytical skills and broad finance knowledge will also be particularly important.
In this role, you will:
Manage a team of traders who are responsible for the execution of short term wholesale funding
Ensure that adequate balances are maintained in each Banks Federal account
Establish relationships with brokers, dealers and market makers for bank and corporate debt
Be responsible for cash forecasting for the Banks to identify required changes in strategy and to plan daily activity
Consult with business lines regarding products and funding
Identify strategies that mitigate liquidity risk
Interpret policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including leaders
Partner with business lines to identify strategies that mitigate liquidity risk
Lead team to achieve objectives
Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Treasury
Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
Required Qualifications, US:
8 years of Treasury experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
4 years of management experience
Desired Qualifications:
Working knowledge of regulatory stress testing (CCAR) and capital rules; experience in bank regulatory matters.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written; effective in communication across a variety of audiences and stakeholders, including executive management.
Experience interacting with various regulatory agencies.
Experience developing Sr Executive Management and Board of Director level materials from detailed analysis.
Very detail oriented; ability to translate strategy into actionable steps across direct and indirect teams.
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to influence and lead change.
Proven ability to manage highly complex, enterprise-wide processes in an organization of similar size and scale to Wells Fargo.
BS in Finance, Accounting or another quantitative field. MBA/ CFA/ CPA preferred.
