Job Description
The Business Analyst is responsible for working with the Strategy, Planning and Change Management Director and key leaders across McDonald’s organization on the strategic development and mobilization efforts in support of Global Technology priorities. In this role you will perform external market and competitive intelligence to identify strategic issues and recommend strategic opportunities. This individual will work with cost and quantitative modeling resources on development, maintenance and monitoring of complex business models. You will provide executive communications and analysis to McDonald’s leaders regarding status of all strategic initiatives and efforts while working with key business partners on resolving conflicts and or potential risks.
In this high visibility role, you will be responsible for research, executive reporting and annual planning to evolve the impact and value of McDonald’s Global Technology. The role is ideal for a self-driven, strategic thought leader and change agent who has experience in strategic planning, project management, consulting, and communications along with financial acumen.
Primary Duties:
Executive Reporting & Communications
Draft high impact presentations for routine and ad hoc leadership sessions, internal and external to McDonald’s
Assist with development of communications (e.g., presentations, email, etc.,) to circulate strategy across Global Technology and McDonald’s
Draft executive communications and analyses on status of all large initiatives and work with leadership team to resolve conflicts or potential risks
Work with cross functional teams to gains broad agreement from stakeholders when viewpoints may vary
Work across the Global Technology organization to source key information for executive presentations
Manages stakeholder expectations to ensure customer satisfaction
Structural Support
Establish and maintain secure and public team sites (e.g., SharePoint, Clarizen, @mcd)
Support maintenance of key templates and tools
Maintenance of team highlights and insights reporting
Research & Strategic/Annual Planning
Assist with structuring and content development for the strategic planning process for Global Technology with a particular focus on key strategic initiatives for McDonalds as part of the 2022 Roadmap
Provide targeted support for the Global Technology long-range strategic planning process, including working with leaders to shape their strategic agendas
Perform deep internal and external research and intelligence gathering, including Subject Matter, Industry Expert, Academic Expert and Customer interviews
Conduct internal and external reconnaissance to identify issues relative to the organization’s strategic direction
Work with Director of Strategy & Planning and other team members to identify strategic issues and opportunities and develop fact and quantitatively backed recommendations
Monitor and report on performance relative to plan and strategic alignment
Partner with businesses on broad strategic initiatives to determine the integration points/interdependencies and how each integrates with the overall vision/end-state transformation
Support special projects, which impact the entire organization and/or key business-unit partners
Work with the Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) team to develop, maintain and report on KPIs, metrics and analytics relevant to the EPMO’s and McDonald’s operational and strategic objectives
Partner with Senior Manager of Strategy & Planning, Corporate Finance and resources across Global Technology to develop and implement and maintain a Capacity Model
Main areas of focus and the approximate time spent on each is as follows:
Executive Reporting & Communications -draft executive level communications (e-mails, PowerPoint presentations, pre-reads, etc.,) – 20%
Research -Conduct industry research and competitive intelligence and draft research and white papers – 15%
Analysis - Creation of quantitative models (e.g., excel based financial models) and qualitative and quantitative data analysis – 25%
Special Projects -Structure and run projects based on needs identified in the organization – 25%
Annual/Strategic Planning - Analysis and support of annual and strategic planning processes (e.g., business case review, leadership review material creation, template creation, etc.,) – 15%
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Strategy, Operations Research or Equivalent required
Certifications optional (e.g., PMP, CPA, CFA, PSM, etc.)
3 years of experience and technical/functional expertise in one or several of the following areas: management consulting, corporate strategy, financial analysis, org design and/or marketing
Proven ability to influence seniors and peers without direct authority; experience leading cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders
Demonstrated experience developing analyses, presentations and support material to convey complex and abstract concepts, enable successful implementation of strategy or change initiatives
Advanced problem solving, analytical, oral and written communication, and presentation skills; advanced MS Office skills
Self-driven, detail-oriented individual who actively works to remove barriers to achieving results
Ability to work in a global fast-paced and agile environment
Adapts to changes in priorities with ease, comfortable working “in the gray” while defining the way forward
Quantitative analysis experience preferred
Management consulting experience preferred
Consumer products experience preferred
Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date
