Senior Financial Analysts (SFAs) act as subject matter experts within their specific capability of One Finance. SFAs are involved in financial planning, performance management, decision support, and financial accounting. Key responsibilities include financial analysis and partnering with key functional areas across the Enterprise, including various business teams (categories, channels, capabilities), our international business and executive leadership.
In this role the SFA will help ensure the company’s planning processes and financial outcomes are aligned with the Best Buy 2020 strategy and reflect progress towards our long-range goals.
This team helps create forward-looking financial plans (budget, forecasting and long-range planning) that consider current business dynamics, key strategic initiatives, projected trends and changes in our industry and macroeconomic environments. This role, along with our other Enterprise FP&A SFA role, collectively owns the Enterprise Depreciation budget and forecasting. Skills needed for this role include: An eye for process improvement focusing on leveraging systems, courage to adjust the existing budget and long-range planning processes and empathy as we need to seek to understand the perspectives of those around us.
Responsibilities:
• Business Partnerships: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and partner broadly across various One Finance disciplines.
• Insights & Business Acumen: Research financial variances, trends, and financial and operational drivers to prepare presentations and reports that articulate clear recommendations to leaders.
• Ad Hoc Analysis: Ability to develop actionable recommendations based on in-depth understanding of Best Buy’s business and One Finance objectives.
• Process Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend solutions, gain consensus, and execute implementation.
• Self-Development: Committed to continuously expanding own skill set by taking charge of creating and pursuing own development.
Basic Qualifications:
• 1.5 years of work experience in a Finance or Accounting capacity
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• 5 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
• Demonstration of leadership and strong critical thinking skills
• Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
• High level of ethics, integrity, judgment, discretion, and confidentiality
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion without explicit direction or detailed instructions
