Office of the Provost
invites applications for a
Budget Analyst II
to join their team. This position will serve as a member of the University of Montana (UM) Provost Office finance team. The Budget Analyst II works jointly with the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs (VPAA), Global Engagement Office, Franke Global Leadership Initiative, UM Summer, and the Office of Organizational Leadership and Development. The Budget Analyst II provides financial support to each of these areas.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
Build, analyze, and reconcile state, designated, auxiliary and grant budgets
Regularly provide accurate financial reports to directors to use for reporting, planning, and decision-making
Track department revenue and expenses using Banner, U-Approve, UM Data Warehouse (UMDW) and GrizMart
Check accuracy of figures, calculations, and spending by departments
Complete hiring paperwork and payroll entry
Assist department staff with accounts payable, pro-card management, travel paperwork, GrizMart, requisitions for contracted service agreements and supplies, expenditure approvals, billing models, and deposits
Manage office financial records
Serve as a liaison between VPAA departments and the Human Resources and Business Services offices
Within six months of training, the incumbent should have working knowledge of the UM financial systems, be able to make financial decisions based upon knowledge of funding requirements and financial information obtained from UM financial systems. In addition, the incumbent should be proficient at processing transactions within all UM platforms (such as U-Approve, UMDW, GrizMart, and Banner).

Demonstrated skill in simple Excel formulas and calculations and experience using Microsoft Office
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and to work on projects independently
Minimum Required Experience
High School diploma and two (2) years’ experience or any combination of education and experience that would provide the competencies required to successfully discharge the essential duties assigned to this position.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, as well as at least two (2) years of directly related work experience; or any combination of education and experience that would provide the competencies required to successfully discharge the essential duties assigned to this position.
