The Role
As a Pharmacy Benefits Financial Consultant you will be involved in the financial analysis of pharmacy engagements including but not limited to:
Financial benchmarking
PBM renewals
PBM procurements
On-site pharmacy analysis
This individual will also consult on a wide variety of complex projects involving the design, pricing, funding, implementation and management of a full array of pharmacy programs. You will serve as a lead financial resource and day to day communication liaison with our clients, create client deliverables, contribute to client management and new business activities, and participate in the creation of new intellectual capital.
This role will include project management and serving as the key financial resource to the pharmacy consultant and local H&B teams.
Responsibilities on select clients also include the following:
Monitoring progress to deadlines and budget
Scheduling and managing status calls for active engagements
Ensuring appropriate and effective communication among team members and the client
Assisting with the preparation and presentation of deliverables
Supporting the pharmacy practice on internal marketing or intellectual capital initiatives such as development of new financial models or tools as applicable
Responsibilities:
Deliver superior, consistent project management for assigned clients:
Draft statements of work, project plans and budgets involving multiple workflow streams and client teams
Serve as the day to day project lead, ensuring the progress of the team against established objectives, budget, timeline, deliverables and quality standards
Serve as primary, daily contact to clients on delivery of services
Manage client expectations and raise appropriate issues to Senior Consultants and Client Relationship Managers
Interface with colleagues from other practices and regions on assignments that reflect the client’s broader business issues
Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches including annual review of financial assumptions in our financial models
Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects
Support the generation of new business by enhancing relationships with current clients and recommending new projects and solutions
Directly contribute to clients’ success through applying your technical expertise
Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels
The Requirements
7 years’ experience and success in the design/management of pharmacy plans gained in a consulting, brokerage or carrier environment
Strong financial skills; prior experience in pharmacy pricing, underwriting or valuation work preferred
Proven experience successfully managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget
Demonstrated success in managing client issues and relationships; some experience in growing relationships with current clients
Strong interpersonal and team skills
Polished and well developed oral and written communication skills
Self-starter attitude and ability to work with ambiguity
Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues
Strong analytical and creative skills
Experience training/mentoring junior staff
The ability to see the big picture, leveraging the resources of related practices to address the clients' business challenges
Working knowledge of Excel and MS Word
Availability to travel on an as needed basis
BA/BS degree required; actuarial designations welcomed
