The US Social Investment team creates, delivers, and leverages voluntary national and local initiatives and partnerships to protect Shell’s license to operate and positions the company as a partner of choice. Reporting to the Manager, US Social Investment (SI), this role will provide strategic and tactical SI advice and delivery of environmental social investment programs, in partnership with business assets and NGOs, at the national and asset level to help strengthen social license to operate.
US CR Social Investment Advisor
What’s the role?
The US CR Social Investment Advisor is responsible for driving the identification, development, and delivery of environmental, conservation and biodiversity social investment projects/initiatives, tied to country and business priorities. This role will also support creating editorial content, illustrating the impact of environmental SI initiatives to our employees and external stakeholders.
As a US CR Social Investment Advisor, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Managing relationships with a select group of national and region-based non-profit organizations to identify, plan and execute environmental programs and projects, aligned with US business objectives and country goals, that help mitigate threats to environmental and ecosystem integrity and reduce carbon impacts
Investigating and partnering with businesses and CR to investigate new and ongoing legislation and priorities being actively supported by environmental NGOs that will support business and country objectives
Working across regions and themes, building, and growing authentic, collaborative relationships that enable the execution of the US SI strategy
Providing training and coaching to CR, leaders, and partners to enable the use of SI tools, using measurement frameworks to assess effectiveness of SI work and drive value
Developing strong knowledge of the US business and country priorities and works in partnership with global counterparts for synergies and alignment with respect to SI
Creating impactful, visual, storytelling content highlighting SI initiatives across the US demonstrate community and environmental benefit delivery across multiple channels including internal and external websites, interactive digital tools, and social media feeds
Ensuring all SI environmental programs and initiatives follow government and Shell Ethics & Compliance Office requirements in close coordination with the lead for US CR
Requirements
What we need from you –
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Candidate must have minimum of five to ten (5 - 10) years working experience in any work-related field
Learner mindset about the diverse portfolio of Shell businesses in country and how those can be linked to innovative SI projects in-country
Demonstrated ability to collaborate well with others.
Strong communications skills including internal communications, media relations and external stakeholder relationship management
Strong project management skills
Good business partnering skills; solution-oriented with the resilience to turn away projects that are not aligned with our social investment strategy
Knowledge and experience in Social Investment or Corporate Social Responsibility
Additional knowledge or experience related social performance or community engagement desirable
Strong experience with ethics and compliance requirements.
Strong writing and/or content creation experience
Ability to work under pressure and mediate conflicting parties to find satisfactory solutions.
Solid verbal and written communications, ability to represent the business externally, including interactions with partners
Ability to influence and challenge up the chain of command
