What’s the role?

Shell is looking for a Short Term Trader to serve as a lead to develop intraday market intelligence using business analytics, and development of process automation. As a Short Term Trader;

Lead an initiative to develop short term (Day-Ahead and intra-day) price forecasting.

Accountabilities:

Collaborate with the Trader, Asset Optimization to develop ancillary service offers.

Develop tools to leverage and analyze archived market data in a meaningful way.

Utilize PCI and/or additional automation to simplify energy and ancillary offers to ERCOT, SPP, PJM, and other ISOs as needed.

Leverage work products from fundamental analyses create intraday congestion forecasts.

Trade and collaborate with Asset Optimization based upon intra-day intelligence.

Develop tools to easily and quickly manipulate PowerWorld cases for one-off and daily studies.

Utilize and automate SCOPF ATC Tool.

Standardize and internally distribute daily reports.

Transact and optimize positions according to intraday intelligence.

Participate in ISO Transmission Planning Groups remotely, or in person when necessary.

Interface with in-house Trading Software to develop real-time asset and trader performance metrics.

Collaborate on performance management, root-cause analysis, and refine strategies / offer procedures accordingly.

Manage large datasets in a meaningful way, with the ability to extract insight and develop actionable commercial strategies, including:

Historical term forward prices and liquidation data.

Trading models and pricing tools.

Requirements:

What we need from you

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, engineering or related field preferred.

Minimum three (3 ) years experience in generation dispatch or power trading with extensive familiarity with one or more regional energy producers and markets.

Must have experience in power trading and/or scheduling.

Experience using SQL, Python or .NET is an advantage

Strong analytical and problem solving aptitude.

High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to perform under rigid daily deadlines.

Excellent computer skills including MS Office products.

Aggressive, self-motivated individual who functions well in a team environment.

Previous experience in process automation and code development in Power System Dispatch and or Scheduling strongly preferred.
