Description

The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis analyzes and forecasts financial, economic, and other data to provide accurate and timely information for strategic and operational decisions. The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment.

Responsibilities

Responsible for:

Overseeing the trend measurement and forecasting function for Employer Group business

Identifying and overseeing medical cost and utilization variance and root cause analysis

Decision support and analytics for medical cost and utilization improvement.

There is opportunity and value in connecting these core functions to our partners and their processes... ..e.g., working with Employer Group pricing actuaries to ensure a more comprehensive trend forecast, working with corporate finance partners on reconciling, some broad spectrum application of the work across the segment

Cost containment and mitigation; using data and understanding of the business to identify and improve 'trend bender' solutions

Work with Employer Group actuaries to strengthen the 'core-to-net trend' reconciliation process to improve trend forecasts and pricing adequacy

Maintain on-going forecasts of Covid cost and utilization and socialize with GMS leadership

Maintain the 'EIR' (Early Indicator Report) actual-to-expected variance analysis process to identify opportunities to reduce medical cost trend and improve medical cost

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree

8 or more years of technical experience

5 or more years of management experience

Actuarial experience strongly preferred

Extensive experience with complex financial models

Ability to communicate complex topics (written and oral)

Collaboration - ability to work closely with business partners to achieve shared goals

Intellectual curiosity/challenge traditional wisdom

Strong communication skills, being able to connect dots and have broad visibility on the strategy of the business
