Risk Consultant III - Actuary (Senior Consultant & Actuary)     Aon is looking for a Sr. Consultant & Actuary in the Actuarial & Analytics (A&A) practice of Aon’s Global Risk Consulting business group.  As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our A&A team in the pacific (PAC) region, which includes offices in Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle. Your impactAs a Senior Consultant and Actuary, your impact is driven by:Project management and technical expertise, overseeing multiple small to medium sized consulting projects.Supporting client management, delivering, and communicating results to senior level clients.Effective in managing and expanding client relationshipsManage and mentor actuarial project teamsActive role in new business developmentOpportunity for some travelDevelop TeamsLead actuary on client teams, leading actuarial projects, and client relationship; mostly for small to medium sized accounts. Including technical coaching to other team members and provide ultimate sign-off on results; likely play role on broader actuarial team on jumbo clients, managing large actuarial projects and deliverables, and coordinating with other actuarial team members.Effectively lead actuarial project teams, share client background and goals, measure results, share ideas, identify process improvements, provide timely and regular coaching and feedback to team members.Efficiently deliver quality products and services to clients or colleagues on time, and ensure work product consistently meets expectations for accuracy, process, and reasonability.Maintain a comprehensive audit trail for all analytical workProduce presentations in PowerPoint and formal reports in WordSign statements of actuarial opinion and lead analysis behind them; often directly responsible for all actuarial deliverablesEnable InnovationSeeks new, creative, and more efficient approaches to deliver client results; uses new approaches developed by colleagues; builds actuarial models when data is limited.Applies & translates new concepts to improve functioning of the team.Regularly accesses knowledge tools to stay abreast of developments shared by colleaguesContribute to the improvement of the practice (through national model development/maintenance, strategic initiatives, etc.)Deliver Business ResultsAssist in preparing proposals, identifying, and preparing components necessary to maximize success; regularly identifies opportunities to increase scope of services for direct clients.Ensure that the Aon work product is of high quality and provided in a timely manner.Substantially achieve utilization target.Substantially achieve business development goal.Remain compliant with time and expense reporting and other internal Aon business requirements.Create Client ValueEstablish credibility with clients and colleagues alike; be recognized as an effective problem solver.Actively engage in peer review: have documents reviewed before going to client and review others’ documents to ensure applicable standards of practice are adhered to.Provide actuarial client leadership on assisted clients focusing on broader business objectives such as: (Take ownership of outcomes, Delegate responsibilities effectively; coach and mentor team members, build relationships with clients, understand clients' business, Analyze scoping needs)Exhibit leadership in business judgment in anticipating client/project needs and developing alternative solutions.Explain actuarial methodology and results to clients, as well as potential alternatives.Participate in strategic discussions with clients.Delivers quality products and services to clients or colleagues, work product consistently meets expectations for accuracy and appearance.Improve reporting and visualization of analysis results for both internal and external audiences.Delivers on commitments to clients and colleagues, meets both internal and client deadlines.Relationships and Professional DevelopmentReport to the PAC region A&A team, but collaborate with other Aon A&A professionals worldwide, including actuaries and analystsWork effectively with colleagues, provide constructive feedback, and support collaboration within Aon.Build relationships with other resources within Aon, thereby promoting interdependency.Continue to develop industry and technical knowledge to stay ahead of developments in the profession.Required ExperienceFCAS/ACAS (Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society or Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society)Property & Casualty experience: 5 years of industry or relevant experienceProject/client/financial management experienceBroad business knowledge/perspectiveBusiness development experience, including competitor and market knowledge a plusAbility to communicate concepts to less-technical (or non-technical) peopleAdditional formal or informal responsibilities may include: People management or mentoringEducationBS/BA Degree or equivalent in mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, finance, or other related analytical fields. SkillsProficiency in Microsoft OfficeAbility to operate effectively through challenging or ambiguous situations.Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing.Good organization and time management skills; ability to work independently.Close attention to detail.Strong commitment to teamwork, excellence, and personal/professional growth.Ability to manage resources and deliver insightful analysis to often tight deadlinesWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
