Job Description:

What is the role

Member of the Shell Energy Americas Business Integration & Assurance (BIA) team of business risk and controls specialists and analysts who are responsible for implementation, monitoring, and management of daily controls for operational and/or compliance risks associated with trading of natural gas, electricity, and environmental products.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Ensures the front office teams understand the risk in their business front-to-back and coordinates risk management activity across a variety of Risk Types

Provides voice of the business input to Operational Risk and Compliance.

Reviews and assesses the design and effectiveness of business controls for Compliance and Operational risk while providing independent challenge and independent assurance for cross-LOB projects

Participating in the development and continuous improvement of the SEAm LT quarterly GRCA process.

Facilitates documentation of Control Learning Events (or equivalent “lessons learned”) and, where appropriate, facilitates the “read across” in the LoB / T&S.

Performing assurance reviews on Work closely with Commercial and IT to Identify opportunities and suggesting enhancements and automation for improving workflows and reporting. business controls

Engaging with variety of stakeholders across the organization (including senior stakeholders) as necessary to fulfill responsibilities

Working closely with other members of BIA team to deliver team objectives and business results.

Monitor and provide assurance on business controls: generating reports, analyzing data, identifying trends, insights, issues, gaps and recommending mitigations.

Identifying stakeholders and building relationships to deliver fit for purpose and high-quality service.

What we need from you

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

A degree in finance, business, or related field from an accredited university

10 or more years of relevant work experience.

Extensive experience in a trading or banking environment with solid understanding of business processes, risk management, business controls, and regulatory requirements.

Proficient with MS Excel and other office products.

Familiarity with Trading systems especially Endur and Nucleus

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to understand and interpret complex trade related activities

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Strong stakeholder management skills with all levels of staff and management.

Team player, disciplined, self-starter and results oriented.

Demonstrated learning agility in high stress, ambiguous and unfamiliar situations.

Preferred Experience:

Market Risk, Credit Risk or Operational Risk experience working in a gas and power trading environment.

Experience in commodities markets, derivative products, trading platforms and operations.

Experience leading teams and/or projects

Experience working in a regulated commercial business.

Experience with business process mapping, gap analysis, design, and implementation.

Proficiency in Power BI and Power Automate.
