Against that backdrop, we are seeking a talented finance professional to join our team as Director, General Accounting - Premium and Membership. In this role, you will function as the revenue controller for our Retail and Employer Group business segments. More specifically, you will oversee monthly accounting and forecasting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts and financial statements, such as balance sheets and profit-and-loss statements. You will also drive process improvement efforts and provide financial expertise in support of key projects.

You will directly lead a team of 8-10 associates and will report directly to the Associate Vice President of Financial Operations - Senior Products. Although Louisville, KY would be an ideal location for this position, for exceptional candidates we are happy to consider any location in the lower 48 states.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Review, approve, analyze, and report accounting transactions and ensure the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.

Lead the monthly close process.

Provide financial support, including full-year forecasting, reconciliations and analytics. These activities will be completed at a detailed level, working with other teams to ensure all full year estimates are aligned.

Perform budget variance analysis and report out on the causes of the variances.

Analyze and prepare statutory accounts, financial statements and reports.

Provide support for the annual Medicare bid process, as needed.

Proactively identify and lead process improvement opportunities and initiatives

Conduct or assist in the documentation of accounting projects

Manage, build and lead a high performing team by coaching and developing existing members and closing talent gaps where needed through talent acquisition.

Key Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess extensive (typically 8 years) experience in finance-related roles such as accounting, FP&A, actuarial, etc., He/she will be technology-savvy, with knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server and Access, and knowledge and build-out experience with Power BI and other dashboard programs. This person will also have several years (ideally 5 years) of team leadership experience and a record of success in expanding and elevating the capabilities and performance of the team. Bachelor's degree is required.

In addition to the above, the following technical qualifications and personal attributes are also sought:

Progressive financial accounting, forecasting and analytics experience

A record of success in attracting, developing, and motivating top talent from inside and outside the organization.

Current or recent experience in a large, highly matrixed company (i.e., Fortune 250), with proven ability to influence leaders and key stakeholders in such an environment

Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the polish, poise, and executive presence that will ensure effective interaction with senior and executive level audiences

Highly collaborative mindset and excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to engage many diverse stakeholders and SMEs and win their co-ownership in the outcome

Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

MBA degree and CPA license are plusses, but not required.
