Description
The Director, Data Science uses mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions. The Director, Data Science requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment.
Responsibilities
The Director, Data Transformation within Medicare Finance Organization, maintains and collects structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting. Creates reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business strategy and tactics. Decisions are typically related to the implementation of new/updated programs or large-scale projects for the function and supporting technical/operational procedures and processes, and implements strategic plans, drives goals and objectives, and improves performance. Provides input into functions strategy.
The role serves as leader of an shared services organization, which provides various forms of support to the entire Medicare Finance Organization, from technical, project management, process management / governance, and management of a pool of offshore analytics resources who can help various internal teams when demand is high
They will be responsible for driving the transition of 100 analytics associates from legacy analytics platforms such as SAS/SQL to cloud-based Azure processes using new software, programming languages, and techniques. This involves overseeing a pilot using the new environment, then deploying best practices learned when the full team migrates.
They will represent and advocate for the needs and positions of the Medicare Finance Organization in cross-functional meetings on topics such as data lake hydration, taxonomy definition, metric definition, and with respect to analytic roles and responsibilities across the enterprise. In many instances they will represent the needs of not only our team, but also of the Retail and Finance organizations, and be able to efficiently gather stakeholder input and also disseminate decisions to stakeholders.
The role will oversee a team of offshore resources who provide seasonal peak demand relief and project support to our internal analytics organization, serving as the coordination point between our internal teams
The role also oversees process management across the Medicare Finance Organization. This involves oversight of departmental processes including but not limited to peer review, process documentation, deliverable tracking, business continuity management, model governance oversight, report and presentation visualization, and more.
Required Qualifications
5 or more years of leadership experience
Experience leveraging large sets of structured and unstructured data to develop tactical and strategic insights
Experience developing and validating statistical forecasting models and tools
Experience interpreting and communicating analytic results to analytical and non-analytical business partners and executive decision makers
Clear oral and written communication skills
Flexible, dynamic personality who works well in a team environment and is also able to lead individual contributors
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics and/or related field and 6 or more years of experience
Healthcare or managed care experience
Demonstrated experience with SAS, QlikView, SQL, PL/SQL, Cloud or similar statistical tools
Experience performing data management, mining, and manipulation along with analytics
