Position Description:
The Associate Director, Global Medical will manage all aspects of financial planning and analysis for the Global Medical organization. Key areas of responsibility include: manage overall financial close and reporting processes for Global Medical, provide ongoing financial support and analysis for clinical trials, support strategic initiatives and lead continuous improvement initiatives. This is a highly visible role, which will interact with various groups and senior leaders within the Medical organization. The successful candidate will be an influential and collaborative finance professional who leads beyond the role and effectively interacts at all levels of the organization. The role will also serve as a key leader in the ongoing integration initiatives and continuous improvement workstreams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage Financial Reporting Process:
Ensure financials numbers are reported accurately, issues are identified, escalated and resolved timely.
Facilitate resolution of accounting issues.
Explain financial results to key management.
Serve as key contact for CFA, CFR, Commercial HQ and other functions.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Manage annual budgeting and projections calendar
Collaborate with business units to roll up annual budgets
Monitor risks and opportunities throughout the cycle.
Present results to senior management
Financial Resource Management for Medical Portfolio
Collaborate with Development Leads, Operations Leads, Project Management, Protocol Managers and study support teams to provide estimates of study costs and manage expenses through study life-cycle.
Analyze and translate data into key strategic inputs.
Lead improvements in systems and processes used to generate data for analysis.
Participate in portfolio and cross-functional resource reviews
Lead Strategic Financial Analysis
Lead the integration efforts across Medical including integrating of hBMS and hCelgene systems
Drive Strategic Plan / Long Term Financial Plans for Medical
Support Financial Analysis for Strategic Initiatives. Lead financial reporting & analysis for Continuous Improvement Initiatives. Support decision-making process.
Perform ad-hoc analysis as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, CPA or MBA Finance preferred. Minimum 10 years of experience in finance or accounting.
Proven experience in SOX 404 controls, accounting, and reporting. Understanding of US GAAP and control requirements is a must.
Strong financial and analytical skills as well as excellent business partnering abilities required.
Experience with financial systems. Effective communication skills, strong oral and written communications a must.
Ability to identify risks and opportunities within the clinical trial portfolio.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter, highly motivated, customer focused and able to make decisions independently.
Collaboration experience, inside and outside of finance is desirable.
Experience working with multiple levels of management with competing demands on time and resources.
