BASIC PURPOSE: Managing a team that performs financial analysis to measure the profitability of existing or prospective business activities and make recommendations on allocating capital. Applicants should be comfortable managing and developing employees, communicating directly with senior leadership, taking responsibility for of open-ended projects, working with cross functional teams, and being called upon to make strategic recommendations.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Take ownership and responsibility of financial analysis projects, while developing team members to work independently in coordinating with cross-functional teams as needed *Work with cross-functional teams to measure and optimize the profitability of existing or prospective business activities, developing and communicating requirements for new reporting to development teams as needed *Manage and develop a team of analysts to work independently on high profile projects with leaders in the organization *Work with vendors and 3rd parties to evaluate the financial implications of new agreements or service arrangements, and/or the accuracy of 3rd party cost or savings estimates *Identify important information contained in the public financial statements and earnings calls of peers, strategic customers, or strategic suppliers, and communicate findings to the leadership team *Identify problems with data used in financial analysis or decision making, and be a productive partner in highlighting resource or attention needs to management and helping find solutions *Organize and report on large data sets using Excel and other tools, as necessitated by project goals *Develop pro-forma financial valuation models for prospective projects or acquisitions, while working with business leaders to facilitate broader diligence needs and subsequent integration *Serve as project manager for key initiatives within the company, helping identify value to the organization of different process changes or solutions *Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

*Business Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required *5+ years of experience in a finance or accounting role *Experience leading projects and successfully solving open-ended problems *CPA or CFA a plus

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

*Ability to think strategically about opportunities or challenges facing the business, and make recommendations for addressing those opportunities or challenges within the confines of available time and resources *Strong problem-solving skills and aptitude for providing quantitative answers to open-ended questions.  Ability to build consensus on project objectives with cross-functional teams.  Strong time management and project management skills.  Ability to handle large individual workload while continuing to develop team members to expand the scope of the team's abilities. *Advanced Excel skills: if statements, index/match, parsing large sets of irregular data, developing financial models with flexible inputs *Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex financial analysis to senior management *Ability to apply accounting concepts in financial analysis: interpreting public financial statements, using P&Ls to aid in analysis, etc.

*Typical Physical Demands:

*Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping. *Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. *Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator. *Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
