We are seeking candidates for the role of Sr. Regional Key Account Manager, Renewables & Energy Solutions (RKA Manager). They will be part of a dynamic and collaborative Renewable & Energy Solutions Regional Key Accounts team driving ambitious customer growth, at pace with societal energy transition.
Where you fit in
The Sr. Regional Key Accounts Manager reports into Shell Energy Americas and works in partnership with Shell Renewables and Energy Solutions Americas. Together, these businesses are at the heart of Shell’s growth ambitions in power, renewables and energy products and solutions, across generation; gas, power and environmental products trading; and B2B and B2C customers.
What is the role
The role’s purpose is to develop and profitably grow Americas regional customer relationships through decarbonization products and solutions. The role will coordinate and integrate with Americas customer headquarter locations to develop hi-value, mutually beneficial partnerships, evidenced by Customer-Shell regional framework agreements, that establishes an aligned customer strategy, defines product and solution scope across Shell businesses and sets out a supporting decarbonization and growth roadmap. The role collaborates with local Shell sales and origination teams, who drive contracts, transacts and operationally delivers with customers on the ground.
The candidate will utilize knowledge of power and renewable energy solutions, sales and origination, market/customer insights and value chain understanding and risk management to develop credible and sustainable relationships at senior levels with key customers:
By 2025, Regional Key Accounts will deliver a business moving from start-up phase to a business with revenues exceeding $1 billion USD per annum
By 2025, RKA Managers on average will manage a portfolio that will exceed $150 million per annum. To reinforce collaboration and alignment, the RKA Manager’s financial targets are duplicated and represent the cumulative total of the local sales and origination transactions.
The RKA Manager will collaborate with Marketing to target high value Americas customers, work to understand their needs, determine best fit solutions, and deliver sales based on these bundled offers.
The role will focus on developing multi-year strategic customer plans and delivery roadmap, building Americas corporate customer headquarters-level relationships, supporting annual planning cycle, leading multi-functional and cross line of business core teams across Shell.
Engage C-suite and key decision makers at customers’ Americas headquarters during all critical stages of the strategic customer sales cycle.
Leads quarterly customer performance reviews, leveraging sales, operational and strategic scorecards
Provide Regional Key Accounts with market insights and industry best practices.
Forecasting demand to ensure that renewables supply and resources are in place to support product and solution delivery
Advocate customer needs/issues cross-departmentally and act as a voice of the customer across the organization.
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, mathematics or similar fields or an equivalent combination of experience and education; MBA Preferred
Minimum of 10 years working in consultative energy and solution sales, trading or origination
Prior experience in structuring complex deals (strong preference for power experience) at the senior executive level
Proven track record of new account delivery, account growth, and churn reduction
Some travel is required, typically less than 20%
The successful candidate can be located in San Diego, San Francisco or Boston.
You have extensive strategic account management experience, ideally in the power industry, preferably working with corporate enterprise customers at the C-suite or comparable level.
You have a deep knowledge of and passion for the energy transition, including experience designing, structuring, and selling renewable power, renewable gas, distributed energy solutions, electric mobility, or other related products. Deep power knowledge in at least one—and preferably multiple—ISO is preferred, as is experience with complex, long-tenor deals
You have strong analytical and critical thinking skills – you know the right questions to ask to really get to the root of the matter.
