Job Description:

Become a leader in the Energy Transition!

If you are intrinsically driven to make a difference in the Energy Transition, this is a pivotal role to set and implement direction for our Renewables and Energy Solutions business and portfolio.

Where you fit in

The Renewables & Energy Solutions (R&ES) Strategy and Portfolio team provides insights and advice to the R&ES Leadership Team and to Royal Dutch Shell on the overall strategy, integrated business development, and investment priorities for R&ES. The R&ES business in Shell is focused on leading in the energy transition towards a low-carbon future through power and hydrogen, supporting our aim to power progress together through more and cleaner energy solutions.

We aim to become the decarbonization partner of choice of our customers, and we will work backward along the value chain to deliver. Shell 2030 targets are very ambitious: becoming a leading provider of clean power-as-a-service. We also aim to develop integrated clean hydrogen hubs to serve industry and heavy-duty transport, achieving a double-digit share of global clean hydrogen sales.

What’s the role?

As a member of the Strategy and Portfolio team, the Portfolio Advisor will be expected to play an active (and sometimes leading) role in a variety of areas, in particular, to provide support and required analyses for:

Developing and implementing the portfolio management system for R&ES; including a framework for analyzing and monitoring performance, risks and uncertainties, latest strategic and capital structure developments
Providing insights into gaps between current and planned portfolio and Shell’s ambitions
Development and management of complex financial models to support the design, implementation, and continuous reporting of valuation performance of the R&ES portfolio
Evaluation of growth opportunities (and associated risks), including inorganic opportunities
Providing R&ES input and perspective into long-term portfolio/ business model analysis and operating plans
Providing input for senior-level meetings by synthesizing insights and developing strategic recommendations and investment perspectives
Monitoring external trends in collaboration with the Competitive Intelligence community relevant for R&ES (e.g. competitive landscape, regulation, financial frameworks, financing)

What we need from you

Proven M&A focused corporate finance experience gained from a top tier investment bank, a private equity firm or other relevant institution
Experience in infrastructure, power, or renewable energy
Prior experience of working closely with clients and seniors is preferred
Analytically excellent – a clear thinker who can distill the essence of complex issues through rigorous analysis
Track record in modeling and valuations
Dynamic, with high energy levels, and an ability to take on a complex workload
Team player with a positive attitude
Driven and self-motivated
Organisationally astute – mature, diplomatic, and savvy
Structured communicator with an influential, self-confident, and persuasive style
Outstanding written, technical and communication skills
