Profile

The Network Administrator is responsible for performing network administrative duties including setting up new users, assisting users with network access, and resolving connection problems. Monitors network utilization and security systems. Provides technical support to end users, answers questions, and provides network training sessions as needed. Performs diagnostic testing to determine source of problems and makes necessary repairs. Maintains activity logs and makes recommendations for new network products. Loads and verifies software, tracks and resolves equipment problems, and completes licensing and inventory control functions. Provides technical support to users and the networks by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Network Operations and Administration
Sets up and maintains network operations, including the configuration and monitoring of network hardware and software, and provides assistance to other technical staff. Establishes network users, user environments, directories, and security for
n
etworks being installed. Creates user accounts in active directory and email addresses for staff. Ensures new employees are provided network access. Maintains network resource and bandwidth utilization at optimal levels. Ensures server storage space is maintained to prevent application malfunction and failure. Performs basic core, ancillary, and third-party system administration functions including but not limited to console resets, password resets, security overrides, etc. Provides Wi-Fi and Video Conferencing support as required. Works with other IT staff members or cross-functional team on special projects. Availability required for system installation, upgrade or support as needed which may include nights and weekends.
Diagnostics and Back Up Processes
Performs network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose complex network problems. Upgrades network hardware and software components as required. Performs back-up processes for network servers and databases to ensure all critical data is replicated, backed up, and de-duplicated properly.
Installation, Configuration and Monitoring
Installs, configures, tests, and upgrades network printing, directory structures, rights, security, software and files services, necessary software and hardware including printers, switches, routers, network cabling, and rack-mounted UPS units. Installs, configures, tests, administers, monitors, and troubleshoots Windows, SharePoint, Exchange, and SQL databases and systems. Assembles and configures network components and associated services as required. Performs server rack mounting and installation, upgrades, service pack updates, administers virtual server farm and Storage Area Network subsystems.
Support
Provides users with network technical support. Responds to needs and questions of users concerning their access to network resources.
Assists members with Tier 2 tech support questions regarding their PCs and our network. Ensures all open tickets have been addressed in a reasonable amount of time. Logs, tracks and administers support requests and calls using the ticket management application and database, and maintains history of records and related problem documentation. Works closely with IT Management in the creation and maintenance of the Credit Union disaster recovery plan. This includes ensuring all network-related servers are functional, backed-up, and replicated. Creates and updates the three-year migration plan for Network Operating and Application Systems (SQL/Exchange/SharePoint/Windows Server/VMware).

Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A.S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; two years network administration related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years network administration experience in a financial institution is preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have expert knowledge of Internet software, Messaging software, Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software, Presentation software, Flowchart and Diagramming software, Backup software, Database software, Windows 10 operating system, network cabling, PC, and End User Support. Must have a working knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Exchange, SharePoint, VMware, and TCP/IP. Additional knowledge of Microsoft 365, Cisco routers and switches, SQL servers, Visual Basic Programming, and Project Management software desired.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate or Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, VMware Certified Associate (VCA) or VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) desired.
