Summary
Lead a credit center of excellence for a global company. Develop credit strategies, proactively assess, measure and manage credit, and foster the growth and development of a global team of credit professionals.

Responsibilities
Strategy and Leadership
Develop and lead the strategic planning for enterprise credit in alignment with the risk appetite of the company. Engage the Risk Committee of the Board of Directors on credit related matters and provide quarterly updates. Lead the monthly Credit Committee which includes the CFO, Treasurer, Business CFOs, Corporate Controller.
Hire, develop and retain credit employees and credit opportunities for individuals to expand their expertise in other areas of the company. Create succession planning. Champion change and transformation.
Create an environment and culture that champions diversity and inclusion, safety, and employee development. Provide timely coaching and feedback.
Credit Management
Ensure that the Global Credit Policy aligns with the risk appetite of CHS. Ensure efficient and effective credit procedures are established to protect the CHS balance sheet against credit related losses while supporting the growth initiatives of the ag and energy business. Partner with Accounting to ensure proper reporting. Develop and maintain key partnerships with Enterprise Risk Management, Legal & Compliance and Treasury. Partner with Finance Shared Services on their responsibilities around collections and accounts receivable. Provide credit expertise across corporate and business functions.
Develop, monitor and communicate credit key performance indicators (KPIs) ideally with automated reporting. Develop a credit “scorecard” to measure and monitor performance for various levels of leadership.
Positively impact the company’s cash conversion cycle (CCC) through improvements in accounts receivable (A/R).
Business Partnering
Work closely with Business and Finance leaders to ensure that sound credit management practices are understood, established and tracked. Effectively communicate and report current and future risk to senior leadership. Engage and influence business leadership on credit matters. Lead credit meetings and presentations.
Develop a deep understanding of the industry, creditors, payment terms, etc. to appropriately assess risk and return. Foster independent, high-quality credit analysis and diligence with a focus on business rationale, key risks, sources of repayment and profitability to support credit recommendations. Timely and accurate reporting on aging, high risk accounts, etc. is required.
Finance & Economic Expertise
Stay informed on macroeconomic events that affect CHS businesses and customers. Examples include changes in agriculture and energy prices, inflation, political and country risks, weather, etc. Proactively identify changes in economic data impacting credit and present information to senior leaders in a clear and concise manner. Model scenarios for financial planning and budgeting.
Technology and Automation
Significantly reduce manual processes and leverage technology to create efficiencies. Streamline and automate processes across the credit department. Cultivate a “lean” mindset among team members and proactively identify solutions and reporting to better serve the internal customers.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting or related field.
10 years of experience in Credit and/or Risk Management with 5 years of direct managerial experience of a credit team.
Additional Qualifications
MBA or master’s degree in a related field.
Certification in Credit Management (NACM, other).
Experience leading a global credit team which includes operations in Europe, Asia and South America.
Expertise leading departments through transformation.
History of managing global centers of excellence.
SAP experience • Ability to lead boldly and influence others.
Strong communication and relationship management skills required.
