Shell Renewables & Energy Solutions (R&ES) is developing clean energy solutions that will enable customers to meet their decarbonization goals and bring value to Shell as part of our Integrated Power Strategy.

Global Customer Solutions (GCS) is the center of excellence in Shell R&ES responsible for Global Enterprise Accounts for the Cities, Tech, Commercial, and Light Industry sectors, along with global marketing, sales excellence, product development, and commercial innovation.

The GCS team acts as a catalyst for R&ES organization to accelerate the development of customer-centric, high added value energy solutions, and to advance the cultural change required to become a net-zero integrated energy business.

Through our commercial innovation program, we create the tools, processes, and organizational changes required to accelerate the transformation of our business from commodity, product-oriented towards customer-centric, high added-value solution development.

We aspire to excel in creating new contractual and commercial solutions to adapt products and technologies to the specific needs and situations of our customers, maximizing the value generated to all parties.

What’s the role?

The Energy Solutions Modelling Manager will be instrumental in the development of the foundations of Commercial Innovation and the development of new business models for R&ES that will enable the organization to differentiate, increase market share in energy solutions, and more critically increase the value added to our customers.

The role will lead IT-driven business change, acting as Product Owner responsible of leading the development and implementation of digital tools that enable creation, modeling, simulation, iteration and sharing of new commercial structures, and business models, for complex energy procurement transactions and energy solutions.

More specific responsibilities include:


End -to-end origination, development, delivery, and implementation of complex digital tools and platforms for commercial modeling and business model innovation
Lead IT-driven business change in a programme or project environment
Deploy measurable change management interventions and wider transformational change initiatives, usually in an Agile context
Coordinate multiple large tactical or strategic IT Change projects
Interact with very senior levels of business leadership
Contribute Subject Matter Expert (SME) input in techno-economical, financial and commercial modeling
Deliver high impact business transformation and change management strategies
Partner with IT Line of Business leadership teams in the development of Change Strategies to support delivery of business value
Liaise regularly with internal and external partner organisations, for the provision of consulting services
Develop skills of team members through coaching and delegation


The role can be based either in London or Houston.

What we need from you?

We’re keen to speak from individuals with extensive experience in using and/or developing commercial, pricing or techno-economical complex modeling tools, ideally in energy markets. You’ll also call on your Degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, or any similar field.

We also hope you possess the following skills and experience:


Understanding of software development cycle (especially web-based apps)
Experience in preparing product roadmaps, features descriptions and writing business requirements in the form of user stories
Ability to translate business language and needs in a way that is accessible for technical teams to develop technical requirements
Experience working with the Agile methodology (and familiar with tooling e.g. Jira, Confluence).
Strong stakeholder management skills including coaching senior stakeholders, managing governance bodies, and creating senior-level communications


A self-motivated individual who’s capable of setting and executing a strategy to accomplish goals. You must have strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to influence all levels with different areas of expertise. You’ll also need strong interest in renewable energy and power markets, and willingness to learn and become a SME in modeling of complex energy solutions as a career objective.
