My client, a Boutique Investment Bank is looking for a talented and conscientious Unix Admin/team lead to join their Infrastructure team and are prepared to offer a highly attractive compensation package to the right individual.
The team will be made up of a team lead and two senior administrators who will report into the UNIX Service Manger in remotely. The team will provide follow the sun escalation coverage, working with their other global level 3 team in supporting our level 1 & 2 teams, which are based in India and the Philippines.

Strong Organization skills – You will have responsibility for multiple, complex projects within business areas that will require good time management and prioritization skills
In terms of responsibilities, here’s what you will be handling:
You will be expected to drive operational stability, risk management, business as usual support and platform management on behalf of a global team. Within MGL you will be supporting around 2500 UNIX Servers, within a complex technical environment, predominantly Sun Solaris and Red Hat Linux environment,
Day to day operations
Resolution and management of escalated issues
Pre-emptive maintenance work
UNIX to Application Support Liaison
Mentoring and developing the level 1 and level 2 team
DR Planning and Testing
Risk management and mitigation
Process Improvement
In terms of technical skills, here’s what is beneficial:
Leadership experience
Strong Solaris UNIX skills
Strong Red Hat Linux skills
O/S upgrades, with knowledge of YUM, live upgrade, Jumpstart and Kickstart
Configuration Management (puppet)
Capacity Planning and Performance Analysis abilities
Scripting in Perl and Shell
SAN and Storage management, preferably with EMC/Netapp and Veritas experience
Back ups, with knowledge of Legato Networker, Commvault & Enterprise Tape Systems
Veritas products - Volume Manager and Cluster
