Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounting Specialist has responsibility for effectively supporting the business unit by performing financial closes, assisting with reporting, posting journal entries, and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Month, quarter, and year-end financial accounting close and reporting
Journal entry preparation, posting and costing
Reconciling balance sheet accounts and investigation variances, specifically cash, payroll and accounts payable
Prepares, completes, and posts daily receipts in ERP systems (checks, wires, ACH, credit card).
Accurately preparing period end reporting in accordance with SOX and our financial close process
Assist with reporting and analytics
Assisting with the preparation of the financial reporting packages including: Balance Sheet and Income Statements
Other projects as required
QUALIFICATIONS
College Diploma or University Degree – Finance or related field
1-2 years financial accounting experience including demonstrated proficiency with month end closes
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience working with Bank Recs, Cash application or Accounts Payable is an asset
Detailed and deadline oriented individual
Experience with Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems, familiar with Infor LN or Dynamics AX would be an asset
Ability to reach out to various levels within the organization in order to resolve issues
Self-motivated, proactive individual, able to adapt to changing environments
