Surplus Property Warehouse Manager
. The position is responsible for the organization, processing, reuse, sale, marketing, and transfer of surplus property for **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and select UM affiliates. This position focuses on UM’s surplus property, generating revenue from property sales, responsible and ethical reuse/redistribution, and communicating with the campus and broader Missoula community about surplus inventory .
Expectations include:
Working independently with minimal guidance
Excellent customer service with both UM internal stakeholders and non-UM stakeholders
Serve as a consulting resource for campus in surplus and procurement functions, processes, and procedures
Continually seek opportunities for personal and professional development
Create and setup effective staging for sales of goods
Remain professional at all times
Responsibilities
Manages the University’s surplus/excess property program by acquiring, inspecting, staging, storing, reallocating, recording, recycling, and selling excess University or University affiliates’ property
Organize reutilization efforts of assets in the University System and assists departments with the transfer of equipment between departments and other institutions
Determines fair market values of goods
Keeps and maintains a digital record of all disposal (all methods)
Creates historical reports of disposal outlining volume, revenue, expense which are to be provided to Procurement Director
Relays to procurement reusable items to reduce new product spending
Creates and maintains policies and procedures concerning surplus property for campuses
Strictly adhere to University rules covering receipt and deposit of cash, checks, or credit card transactions, for surplus sales
Prepares budget estimates, revenue and expense forecasts and submits to Procurement Director each year; maintains monthly revenue reports to be submitted to the Procurement Director
Comply with and maintain knowledge of applicable rules, legislation, regulations, standards, and best practices.
Provide guidance and assistance with the identification, selection, acquisition and delivery of quality goods and services in a cost effective, efficient and ethical manner
Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and University vendors
Required Skills

Understanding of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
To work independently, manage time well and find enjoyment working in a fast-paced team environment with high standards of quality.
The ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and audit for exceptions against policies
The ability to research products and services for the University
Forklift operator trained or the willingness to obtain this training upon hire
The ability and willingness to travel to UM affiliate locations around the state in conjunction with inventory management.
Physical Demands:
This position requires the physical moving and lifting of a variety of items, everything from computer equipment to large furniture. Appropriate equipment will be provided to aid in the moving of large items, but the individual should be able to lift at least 50lbs regularly as part of standard work activity and move easily up/down stairs and moderate inclines
Minimum Required Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology, or related discipline or equivalent relevant experience is required.
