What's the role -
The Geismar Finance Advisor (FA) role is responsible partnering with the site to deliver on operational and financial commitments. The FA is responsible for providing quality commercial acumen and value improvement insights to help deliver bottom line performance, driving top quartile outcomes. The FA will closely collaborate with C&P on Commercial Contracting opportunities to enable continuous improvement, cost leadership and third party spend initiatives. In addition, this role will be part of the Geismar finance advisor Pool to allow opportunities to support projects, allocated based on development needs and workload.
Finance Advisors serve as the face of Finance for specific business opportunities or challenges, on a selective basis, prioritized based on value and risk. They are responsible for the satisfactory delivery of finance capability required to support a set of clearly defined business outcomes on the project/transaction involved, which will be delivered by Business Finance, Centers of Expertise and/or Finance Operations.
Accountabilities:
Lead and drive process improvement and excellence as One Finance team delivering both at site and with Shell’s Global finance teams in Chennai and Manila as well as across departmental boundaries. This includes effective collaboration with Refinery Finance and Chemicals Finance teams as well as the broader Americas region.
Partner with the multiple complex Business lines (i.e. Operating, Maintenance, Technical, Engineering, Projects, TA, etc.) to ensure delivery of financial and operational commitments safely, reliably and in compliance with approved policies, procedures, and accounting guidelines.
Provide strong and effective fiscal leadership, including finance and business support, analysis, performance appraisal, project support commercial contracting insight, and controllership.
Work closely with the Business Planning group in support of the Site Value Growth Plan, annual Business Plan, latest estimate updates, and the monthly appraisal of actual results.
Leverage knowledge of the business environment and its impact on performance to articulate and propose opportunities and/or areas of value leakage.
Champion continuous improvement, cost leadership and third party spend initiatives by collaborating successfully with Contracting and Procurement and the multiple Business lines.
Participate in development of business strategy, with effective plans for meeting established goals and targets. This includes bringing an integrated performance view which includes merging strategy, planning/appraisal and site performance.
Skills and Requirements
What we need from you -
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor's degree is a must; preferably in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum six (6) years of experience in Financial planning and analysis (FP&A), Audit or risk advise.
Strong business partnering experience
Exhibits commercial curiosity to fully understand and explore value opportunities
Experience participating in cross-functional initiatives or projects while continuing to manage current workload
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the organization
Continuous improvement mindset and ability to lead through change
