An opening has recently arisen as our Casualty Portfolio Manager, reporting to the Head of Casualty Portfolio Management.
The primary responsibility of the role is to develop and deliver Product & Underwriting strategy and relationship management for casualty businesses that will ensure that short and long-term financial objectives can be achieved.
Your new role
This is a pivotal role, that will see you working closely with our Head of Casualty Portfolio Management. You will drive and deliver Product & Underwriting strategy for your dedicated portfolio that will optimise growth in new renewal business. You will also ensure that underwriting rules and pricing deliver short- and long-term profitability requirements across Casualty portfolio.
Guild’s Casualty Portfolio largely comprises Professional Indemnity, Products Liability, Public Liability, and Management Liability. You will provide strategic and operational thought leadership across the product and underwriting department as you specialise in this portfolio. Specifically, some of your main activities will be:
Collaborate, innovative, and create portfolio strategy with the product, risk appetite, underwriting, pricing and offers that will deliver the organisations growth and profit objectives.
Ensure portfolio manager responsibilities are actioned for casualty lines.
As a senior member of the Product & Underwriting Leadership Team, contribute to setting and delivery of all aspects of the team’s business plan and objectives.
Facilitate Casualty Reinsurance Treaty review in consultation with Head of Casualty Portfolio Management and Reinsurance Manager.
Own Technical Underwriting and pricing of all large new business opportunities including assessment against developed acceptance criteria, determining terms, conditions and pricing recommendations.
Drive casualty Underwriting excellence in referral underwriting and system-based underwriting across the organisation.
Work closely with Analytics, Casualty Claims and Head of Casualty Portfolio Management to design and implement book pricing strategies for new and existing markets that ensure all portfolios written will achieve profit requirements.
About you
You are an experienced industry professional with in-depth experience gained in mid to large sized organisations. You have a solid understanding of the technical side of insurance products and industry requirements. You will enjoy setting a good standard in the team of collaboration, and excellence in your work and relationship building, internally and externally. You have high attention to detail and have proven experience in regulatory and reporting with your portfolio management. You will also have the following:
Education
· Undergraduate degree in related discipline desirable.
· Mandatory minimum RG146 Tier 1 (General Insurance).
· Relevant ANZIIF/industry qualifications.
Knowledge and experience
· Minimum of 10 years in the insurance industry, with a minimum of 5 years within financial lines.
· Minimum 5 years Underwriting or Portfolio Management experience in a variety of classes.
· Extensive knowledge of Financial Lines products and markets. Professional Indemnity experience is essential, and knowledge of General Liability and Management Liability preferred.
· Sound portfolio management skills including development of reporting tools, underwriting guidelines, and execution of pricing initiatives.
Skills/Ability
· Extensive knowledge of Financial Lines products and Markets.
· Advanced level of Business Acumen and Project Management skills.
· Well-developed cognitive, analytical capability and ability to deliver profitable portfolio based pre-underwritten solution.
· Strong team focus.
· Strong cross-functional stakeholder engagement and relationship management
