In this role, you will oversee research and innovation and develop strategy for Medicare Advantage membership growth. You will discover what products, services, and experiences MA beneficiaries need and how we can best provide them to succeed in a highly competitive marketplace, driving Humana's MA growth at or above the industry average. You'll work closely with leaders across the enterprise and have the opportunity to solve big problems and to create and advance bold new ideas to grow Humana's Medicare Advantage business.
Responsibilities
The Growth Strategy team supports Humana's Retail business segment, which is comprised of the company's Medicare and Medicaid businesses. With over 9 million medical members and $67B in '20 revenue, Retail is Humana's largest business segment, comprising over 80% of the company's total revenue and the majority of its earnings. Team members partner with the senior leaders of the Retail business segment, and more broadly with leaders throughout the enterprise, as they deliver strategy projects addressing one of the enterprise's most pressing and important objectives, membership growth. These high profile strategy projects place the small team at the forefront of helping to define the future of Humana's largest businesses.
Responsibilities
Understand Medicare Advantage customer needs and wants
Manage high-profile, high-impact growth strategy projects from developing an approach to delivering recommendations and final deliverables, identifying outsize opportunities for growth based on product offering, competitive position, network, marketing, distribution, etc.
Direct consumer, broker, and other research into drivers of growth, partnering with other enterprise research areas (eg marketing)
Oversee the analytics strategy for the Growth Strategy team including learning agenda, competitive and market analysis, and product and other deep-dives. Liaison with analytics support teams to execute on analytics approach.
Identify consumer segmentation opportunities - what do different segments of consumers need from Humana's products and how do we best engage with them?
Partner with other Retail Strategy teams, Customer Journey teams, and other enterprise partners (Marketing, Product, Distribution, Clinical) on innovation, research, analytics, and strategy creation related to growth
Create and lead ongoing product innovation process
Understand competitor growth dynamics, product positioning, and portfolio
Generate creative growth strategy alternatives based on research and innovation
Bring expertise in support of multi-functional efforts to identify, interpret and produce recommendations and plans based on company and external data analysis
Synthesize complex information and communicate it to a wide variety of audiences on matters of importance
Lead a team of 2 strategy advisors/consultants
Work independently with general guidance from the AVP, Growth Strategy

Required Qualifications
Proven experience leading research, analytics, or innovation work
Proven experience overseeing complex cross-enterprise projects
Proven experience creating strategy alternatives and influencing business decision making
Expertise in Medicare Advantage or other healthcare business
Master's degree in business, finance, analytics, or related field; or equivalent experience
5 years experience including leadership experience
Work-At-Home Requirements
Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.
