Our Manager, Planning will be responsible for providing divisional level financial guidance including sales, margin and inventory. The position will drive alignment between top down financial targets and bottoms-up merchandise plans. With strong business acumen, the individual will make sound recommendations and provide clear visibility to risks and opportunities within the business.  The Manager, Planning will mentor and develop Planning team for their respective division, creating a strategic vision on business needs.  The manager will also be responsible for creating and presenting targets and initiatives to continue to strategically drive the growth of the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manage the divisional top-line OTB aspect of the business preparing forecasts and evaluating performance.  Protect TH interests while maximizing profitability and minimizing liabilities.  Manage business plans in accordance with the divisional and corporate goals
  • Create top-line financial plans to pass down to Planners
  • Recommend action points or contingency plans
  • Develop and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly level sales, margin and inventory forecasts by department
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Visual Merchandising) to strategically manage pricing and promotional activity, to maximize profitability and turn inventory
  • Develop top down and bottom up Seasonal Plans, including Executive summary and Overview
  • Collaborate with Allocation Manager to create seasonal plans that support company financial goals and merchandise trends and opportunities; analyze hindsights to assist with more effective seasonal plans moving forward
  • Manage IT initiatives within the Planning department
  • Responsible for getting Planners prepped and ready for future meetings (e.g., MBR/OTB, Buy Review, or any business-driven meetings where Planning information is presented
  • Attend ad-hoc meetings to represent the division
  • Validate and appraise OTB proposed plans, recommending adjustments and shifts when needed
  • Partner and collaborate with fellow divisional Managers to strategize on holistic and operational initiatives to maximize efficiencies and business results
  • Participate in specialized task forces, gaining exposure to other business areas

QUALIFICATIONS:

        

  • 7+ years of experience in a vertical retail planning role
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Business, Finance or Economics); advanced degree, a plus
  • Experience with managing a team of 3+ planners
  • SAP and JDA Planning experience preferred
  • Strong retail background
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong communications skills
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office
  • Additional systems knowledge a plus
  • Ability to work cross functionally with a strong ability to present to senior management with clarity and effectiveness
  • Responsible for divisional-level budgets
  • Create targets that are in-line with identified KPIs (e.g., receipts, sales, AURs, margins, inventory turns)        
  • Recommendations for business adjustments based on analysis of current business
  • Responsible for developing team’s professional career growth
  • Access workloads for team members, making shifts when needed to prioritize goals for planned targets
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines and budgets
  • Creative thinker and effective collaborator with their departmental team
  • Must be able to find the best solutions and develop methods to improve efficiency
  • Flexibility required to respond to changing needs of the business with adherence to deadlines
