Job Responsibilities
Medical Collector is responsible for full cycle medical insurance collections for multispecialty physician and hospital services
Collect on government Medicare, Medicaid, Worker’s Compensation, and commercial insurance and patient outstanding balances
Medical Collector is responsible for following up on insurance claim status, resolving denials & rejections, submitting re-bills, re-submit claims, and file appeals
Medical Collector must establish payment plans, accept payment, and work aging reports
Post insurance and patient payments (cash, check, credit card, Explanation of Benefits, EOB, EFT, lock box)
Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable
Medical Collector is responsible for obtaining insurance verification, precertification, and authorization via phone and insurance payer portals
Medical Collector must update patient accounts with registration, insurance, demographic, scheduling, and billing data
Medical Collector must provide superior high-volume patient customer service in a fast paced environment
Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Outlook/Power Point), medical software, payer portals, and type 40 WPM
Requirements
Medical Collector must possess 1 years’ experience performing full cycle medical insurance collections for multispecialty physician and hospital services
Experience collecting on government, Medicare, Medicaid, Worker’s Compensation, and commercial insurance and patient balances
Medical Collector must have experience following up on claim status, resolving denials & rejections, re-billings, re-submitting claims, & filing appeals
Medical Collector must have experience managing accounts receivable and accounts payable
Medical Collector must have experience posting insurance and patient payments, cash applications, cash posting (nation of Benefits, EOB, EFT, lock box)
Medical Collector must have experience obtaining insurance verification, precertification, and authorization via phone and online insurance payer portals
Experience updating patient accounts with registration, insurance, demographic, scheduling, and billing data
Experience performing high volume in person and phone patient customer service in a fast paced environment
Medical Collector must possess a strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Outlook/Power Point), payer portals, & electronic medical records (EMR) software
Ability to type 40 WPM required (alphanumeric & 10-key typing)
