Actuarial Research (Remote Optional) Intern

Qualifications:
Completed pursuing degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics or related field, or the equivalent is preferred.
Strong mathematical aptitude and an interest in the actuarial career path is required.
Computer experience with knowledge of spreadsheet software desired.
Programming experience (SQL, Python, R, VBA, or other) preferred.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities and Duties:
Learn fundamental actuarial principles for use in analyzing company and industry data to prepare actuarial analyses
Assist in preparation and execution of assigned projects, including data reporting, data analysis, and predictive analytics.
Assist in data retrieval and manipulation for use in assigned projects and ad hoc analysis
Summarize and communicate findings within actuarial services
Skills you can expect to improve and/or developed:
Gain general exposure to working with real insurance data, and because they will be working on building out reporting around our modeling process they will get direct insight into how models are built and used. Their reporting will be gathering statistical diagnostics for the models, so they will get a lot of exposure to the technical aspects of modeling.
Working with dashboards, they will get to work with large datasets and learn how to meaningfully summarize data, as well as getting exposure to which metrics are important for insurance data analysis. They will get to see multiple lines of business.
Exposure to Excel and Emblem, and depending on their previous exposure, would get to work in R or Python.
Schedule: Remote
Salary for this position can range from $20 hourly for candidates who are minimally qualified through $25 hourly for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill and education.
