The Financial Aid Director provides the overall leadership and oversight for the Financial Aid Office at the Law School. Responsible for the overall awarding and disbursement of financial aid loan, grant and scholarship funds (federal, state, institutional, and private programs) for the law school.
Responsible for compliance with federal, state, accrediting agency, and institutional policies and serves as the main contact for the Law School during audits and program reviews, as it relates to Law school Financial Aid. Provides vision and leadership to the Financial aid staff and sets student centered, compliant, policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership and supervision to staff in the financial aid Office. Ensure excellence in customer service to include prompt, accurate handling of incoming phone calls, and written and electronic communication. Review the information provided to students on the Law School’s website, brochures and letters. Continuously evaluates current services for efficiency and effectiveness. Respond to student issues quickly, accurately, and fairly. Maintain a high level of student satisfaction.
2. Manage the Institutional Scholarship Budgets and Projections. Review and Renew scholarships and Collaborate on the development of new scholarships, Donor and Endowed related. Monitor expenditures of institutional financial aid funds and recommend polices based on current and past trends. Oversee award letter processing, missing document requests, and other student communications.

3. Review financial aid applications and prepare financial aid packages for students, award need-based, endowed and other restricted scholarships. Interpret and communicate the impact of federal regulatory releases and develop compliant policies. Coordinate with appropriate offices across campus to ensure accurate and timely reporting for Attendance Tracking to remain compliance for Federal Financial Aid processing.

4. Serve as the primary lead for the implementation and testing of new financial aid software. Counsel students on application procedures, financing options (which may include creating a monthly budget), debt management, and the rights and responsibilities of student loan borrowers. Update Cost of Attendance Budgets each year. Run Satisfactory Academic Progress for all law students.

5. Certifies student loans and oversees Direct Loan Reconciliation for Federal and Private Lenders. Ensure regulatory compliance with Disbursement reporting and End of Year close out. Meet with Private lenders to vet new and current loan offerings and review Elmselect offerings yearly. Completes Return of Title IV calculations.

6. Manage Student Employment for Law students. Ensure the proper documents are being collected, Students are being hired and paid appropriately. Manage stipends and One-time pays and the PILF program. Federal Work-study Reconciliation, and summer compliance Fellows.

7. Prepare data for year-end reports to reporting agencies such as the ABA, US News and World Reports, and Princeton Review. Review and document policies and procedures. Prepare statistical analysis of financial aid sources. Serves as Lead Certifying veterans Official for the Law School.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree preferred. The Director of Financial Aid must possess knowledge of Title IV regulations and at least 5 years experience in positions of increasing responsibility. Supervisory experience preferred.
