Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Controller and Director of Budget, this position is a key member of the University Accounting Services and University Budget teams. The position is primarily responsible for supporting daily and monthly financial responsibilities. (S)he will also assist in developing analytical procedures and recommending process improvements.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
Review and approve Departmental Charge Authorizations (DCA's).
Periodic uploads into Banner and review daily control reports.
Oversees and posts daily transmittals and journal entries as needed.
Assist in maintaining and reconciling the fixed asset account.
Assists with coordination and completion of the campus wide physical inventory.
Assists in reviewing escheat database and preparation of the Unclaimed Property Holder Report to be submitted to the State.
Participates in the annual financial statement audit.
Performs all accounting and budgetary functions for the University's Special Program funds which includes providing quarterly and year end reporting to the appropriate divisions and ensure the project administrators are using the funds properly and not exceeding available funds.
Review, approve and assign positions within the position control forms.
Works with IRT to improve system efficiencies within the finance division.
Review, approve and process budget transactions.
Assists in maintaining the NSF banner approval queue for the University.
Performs account analysis and special reporting as directed.
Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as assigned.
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous professional experience in finance, accounting, or a related field.
Experience in higher education or nonprofit industry.
Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to complete projects timely and accurately.
Ability to think and work independently.
Strong communicational skills and works well individually and in a team.
Good accounting/GAAP knowledge.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel).
Knowledge of Ellucian Banner and Cognos is preferred.
Salary:
Range P16 ($45,521-$51,695)
