Church Treasurer [CTR]
Purpose
To work with the Finance Committee following the guidelines of the Staff Parish Relations Committee. [SPRC]
Accountability:
The CTR is accountable to the Administrative Council thru the Finance Committee and SPRC.
Time Commitment
This position is a part-time position of approximately 36 hours a month.
Responsibility:
1.
The CTR is to attend Chiques UMC worship at least once a month and occasional social events for church members to get to know him/her.
2.
The CTR will stay in close communication with the Pastor regarding his/her work.
3.
The CTR is welcome to participate in church activities if she/he wishes.
4.
Attend monthly Administrative Council meetings and have the following reports prepared:
A. General Budget Expenses
B. Fund Balance Report
C. Income/Expense Chart
5.
Pay all obligations promptly and on time.
6.
Maintain payroll system and withholdings.
7.
Monitor budget versus actual expenditures to know where the church stands financially at any given time.
8.
Prepare monthly reports for the trustee committee:
A. Fund Balance Report
B. Facilities & Utilities Report
9.
Make recommendations to Finance Committee and Adm. Council on budget/spending/fund allocation, etc.
10.
Stay up to date with Church tax changes.
11.
Prepare year-end reports for Charge Conference and the annual audit.
Relationships:
The CTR will relate to other professional staff members and committees to enhance the congregation's ministry.
Evaluation:
Work objectives and performance reviews will be conducted annually by the Pastor, Finance Committee Chair Person, and SPRC.
The SPRC will annually review the adequacy of compensation.

TITLE
Director of Music
JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is a salary (no overtime), restricted part-time, year-round.
The expectation of attendance is for: Sunday Worship services, special music, and three or four special services, including Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Christmas Eve.
PURPOSE
To provide keyboard, piano, and/or organ, and special music accompaniment for scheduled worship services and other occasions in support of the music ministry of Chiques UM Church.
SKILLS NEEDED
• Ability to play the keyboard, Pianist, and organ as part of leading congregational singing, to accompany musical performances for special events in person and online.
• Ability to attend weekly music rehearsals as scheduled.
• Must come well-prepared and rehearsed for each accompaniment/hymn/selection for worship services.
• Ability to be punctual and flexible.
• Preplan, prepare, rehearse, and select appropriate music for scheduled worship services and other required occasions to support the music ministry of Chiques UM Church.
• Play for weddings and funerals, as requested (and upon availability), is permitted to receive additional compensation from the parties involved.
• Ability to take direction from the pastor, SPR committee, and Admin Council and work as a team member.
• Willingness to work with various age groups and types of music as necessary.
• Ability to improvise and sight-read music when necessary.
• Other duties as deemed necessary.
ACCOUNTABILITY
• Works with the Pastor, SPR, and Admin Council.
• Receives direction from the Pastor and is ultimately accountable to the Staff Parrish Relations Committee.
• Is to notify the Pastor and SPR committee a minimum of two weeks before a planned absence to allow for scheduling a substitute as needed.
EVALUATION
• An evaluation team led by the SPR committee will prepare a formal annual review relying on input from the pastor and those who work closely with the Keyboardist/Pianist and others as a representative sample of the general membership. The Staff Parrish Relations Committee will submit formal compensation recommendations to the Administrative Council annually.
