Aon is looking for a Director, IP ValuationAs part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions supporting IP Solutions in Chicago, Illinois (preferred but not required).Your impact as a Director, IP ValuationJob Description:Lead AIPS teams on valuation projects with management responsibility for all project aspects, including but not limited to: planning and oversight of project schedules taking into account relevant deadlines and available team resources; definition of analysis approaches and methodologies that address the specific needs of each project; communication with internal and external partners; supervision of more junior team members; design and editing of deliverables; and work product quality control.Contribute substantially to the continuous development of AIPS valuation methodologies for IP and intangible assets. Participate actively in cross-team initiatives to improve AIPS intellectual capital. Assist in the development of thought leadership content.Train, mentor, and supervise more junior team members. Engage in recruiting and onboarding new team members.Formulate creative approaches for performing research on specific companies, industries, technology trends, and other business subjects employing publicly available and subscription-only databases (e.g., Capital IQ) and other sources. Analyze, synthesize, and present research findings in an impactful manner.Assist with identification, procurement, and adoption of external-source tools that may improve the efficacy and timeliness of the AIPS valuation team‘s work.Design and implement plans to carry out fact-finding and/or due diligence efforts with clients or other project stakeholders.Design and lead all aspects of the construction of Excel-based financial models for DCF-based valuations with sophisticated Excel features that enable quick and reliable assessment of alternative scenarios.Present research findings and valuation analysis conclusions, verbally and in writing, to direct supervisor, clients, and other internal and external partners.Draft, edit, and produce valuation reports for submission to clients and/or other external parties.Support the Aon IP Solutions team with special projects including, but not limited to, conducting internal training, drafting proposed statements of work for prospective client engagements, and participating in business development meetings with external parties.Represent the leadership and management of Aon IP Solutions in a way that mirrors the adopted mission, core values, and culture of Aon IP Solutions.Help drive Aon IP Solutions to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow, and business goals and objectives.Represent attributes of stewardship, modesty, integrity, trust.Exhibit a can-do and collaborative demeanor that connects across teams and Aon as a whole.Be a role model who develops others by providing timely feedback and coaching.You Bring Knowledge and ExpertiseRequired Experience:6-10 years of DCF-based valuation experience, including presentation/defense of positions taken and final work product to external audiences. Strong preference for IP valuation and/or IP damages experience constructing and analyzing valuation/damages models.Keen attention to detail, outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, and strong sense of ownership for work performed.Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Validated ability to work with other team members and to interact optimally with individuals of various seniority levels. Clear and concise verbal and written communications skills.Ability to perform in a fast-paced, driven environment that requires responsiveness and high value contributions while handling multiple tasks concurrently.Solid understanding of methodologies for determination of cost of funds, hurdle rates, and IRRs in a variety of contexts.Thorough understanding of the linkages between income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, and substantial experience analyzing historical financial statements in 10Ks and other SEC filings.Substantial experience evaluating forward-looking financial projections for overall reasonableness and internal consistency.Extensive experience using Capital IQ and/or Bloomberg for analyzing historical financial data from specific companies and peer groups of companies.Command of Microsoft Office suite, with emphasis on Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (including features such as macros, pivot tables, and conditional formulas).Education:Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or economics. Concentration or major in finance strongly preferred.Work towards CFA certification and/or a master’s degree in finance or business administration a plus.
