What is the role
Reporting Analyst works within the Contracts and Confirmations team performing a key role in the daily monitoring and resolution of issues for trades interfacing from Shell’s Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) systems into ICE eConfirm as required by Dodd Frank Regulatory requirements. This will include performing daily reconciliation, root cause analysis and ensuring all trades are interfaced accurately and within specified timeframes. In addition to the above responsibilities, the Reporting Analyst generates daily reconciliation/ad-hoc reports and KPI’s, working closely with the Confirmations Team, to ensure all trades are confirmed and compliant under existing Sox Controls.
Liaise with Commercial, Risk Control, Compliance, IT and other functional groups and external parties to resolve issues and/or discrepancies
Understand regulatory reporting infrastructure in ETRMs and ICE across multiple markets
Remain informed about internal system changes and understand the subsequent impacts on ICE econfirm
Participate in efforts to maintain working interface with ETRM's and ICE eConfirm.
Perform ad-hoc data reconciliations
Monitor trade submission error logs, performing root cause analysis when necessary to ensure that trades are interfaced within specified timeframes
Navigate through multiple systems to identify and understand trade discrepancies
Prepare data to facilitate the execution of critical business activities
Develop and produce KPI’s and tracking reports
Working in eConfirm to resolve issues and discrepancies.
Ensure process and technical design documentation are monitored and up to date.
Special Challenges
The individual will need to be able to work in a fast-paced open environment, demonstrate proficiency in consistently following instructions, show ability to discover pattern breaks and other indicators of possible process errors, meet tight deadlines, handle a variety of ad hoc requests, identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies and have a high ability to troubleshoot. The individual will need to be able to work extended hours if unforeseen process overruns occur. Strong problem-solving and communication skills will be needed to facilitate solutions in such after-hours situations.
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Information Technology or related fields.
3 or more years of relevant work experience.
Prior experience in an energy trading environment, financial commodities, audit or financial accounting in the energy industry would be an asset.
The qualified candidate must have advanced Excel, (Macros, formulas, VBA) and SQL skills.
Exposure to Spotfire, Power BI, Python and Azure a plus.
Breadth and depth of knowledge in IT systems structure.
Ability to work with and analyze large data sets to identify patterns but with the ability to understand the data and communicate insights and findings.
Strong technical, numeracy, analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills to recognize and solve problems quickly.
Championing system and process improvements with an aim towards elimination of manual data capture, improving reconciliation capabilities and continuing down the path of straight through processing.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, a professional attitude, a high degree of accuracy, task oriented, meticulous and work well within a team environment where effective communication and team collaboration is the norm.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to deliver on the responsibilities and think critically in the midst of ambiguity and uncertainty.
Capacity to adjust priorities and re-allocate time based on changing requirements and requests
Familiarity with natural gas and electricity financial markets or trading organization is preferred.
Understanding of energy trading concepts.
Commodity Trading system knowledge. (Open Link Endur & Nucleus preferred)
Experience working with ICE’s eConfirm and Trade Vault platforms preferred.
Familiarity with Dodd-Frank Act and Sox Controls preferred.
