Job Summary:The financial analyst is responsible for daily management of cash flow and treasury functions, and will assist with budget preparation and administration, capital accounting and reporting, and other duties as assigned.
Reporting to the assistant vice president for finance and controller (AVP), the financial analyst is a key member of the College's financial team and works closely with administrators, faculty, staff, and students to ensure a strong and efficient financial control environment that maintains the educational mission of the College.
The financial analyst will work closely with the financial services team, the associate director of financial planning and the investment operations team to monitor and analyze the college's cash position. This position prepares operating and capital cash flow projections to determine short-term cash flow needs and the proper investment of excess cash balances. Additional responsibilities include monitoring gift activity and cash flow for capital projects, assisting the financial planning office with capital project reporting, and the annual operating budget process. Tasks will be allocated as follows: 50% to treasury and cash management, 35% to operating budget administration and oversight, 10% to capital project reporting and 5% to other duties as assigned.

Perform daily cash management and forecasting activities
Monitor and analyze the college's cash position by evaluating current and previous financial data
Prepare operating and capital cash flow projections to determine short-term cash flow needs and the proper investment of excess cash balances
Allocate and invest excess cash balances in accordance with policies
Prepare and analyze cash management schedules and other ad hoc reports
Reconcile strategic investment fund commitments and report on a quarterly basis
Serve as point of contact for all banking relationships and as the administrator for all online banking
Prepare foreign and domestic wires
Oversight of cash reconciliation processes in and outside of Workday for all cash accounts owned by the College or subsidiaries
Assist with reconciliation of bond bank statements and covenant compliance
Collaborate with advancement operations staff to review pledges and cash flow projections
Monitor gift activity and cash flow for capital projects
Collaborate with facilities capital project staff to review cash outlays for major projects
Assist with the annual operating budget process
Review financial reports and identify variances regularly
Recommend journal entries, costing allocations, and accounting adjustments as needed
Assist in the preparation of quarterly capital project reports and the annual audit process relating to the plant fund
Create and maintain accounting segments (worktags) in the financial system to assist departments with their budget and reporting needs
Use Workday and Adaptive Planning system to develop operating budgets, and generate budget reports and financial projections
Perform additional duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in education and experience; MBA or other advanced degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred
Five to seven years of experience as a finance professional
Strong analytic skills to process large amounts of information and make informed decisions in the best interest of the College
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with a high level of motivation
Attention to detail and accuracy are critical
Must be able to work independently, exercise judgment, and manage projects with minimal supervision as well as to adjust as new projects are assigned
Ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
Highly developed computer skills including extensive experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, email and web applications, as well as an interest in and ability to learn new programs
Ability to user spreadsheets and financial software for complex analysis, fiscal management and financial reports
Strong organizational skills to multi-task during peak times and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, establish priorities, and work collaboratively as a member of a diverse community
Valid driver's license required and must meet the College's Fleet Safety Policy requirements
Chartered Financial Analyst or Certified Treasury Professional certification desired
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
The financial analyst is supervised by the assistant vice president for finance and controller. This position has significant interactions with administrators, faculty, staff, and other outside constituencies.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
General open office and campus environment. Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary. Ability to move around campus is required as is some travel.
