Summary:
This position is responsible for reporting on the fundamental changes to relevant agricultural and energy commodity markets to key internal and external stakeholders. This position requires the ability to regularly synthesize a large amount of qualitative and quantitative information and communicate it effectively to a wide audience. This position will also assist the Commodity Purchasing Group’s financial risk management team with P&L reporting, hedge strategy, and trade execution for various commodity markets. A successful analyst would exhibit strong reading and writing skills, interest in commodity and other financial markets, inherent curiosity, and a willingness to learn. Specific responsibilities include:
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of fundamental market factors that drive changes to relevant agriculture and energy commodities
Write daily, weekly, and monthly commentary detailing key changes that are driving the underlying market theme for audiences including Tyson’s Commodity Purchasing Group, senior leadership, and key external stakeholders.
Work cross functionally with internal poultry pricing teams to advise on and execute financial risk management strategies that help to stabilize the margins of forward poultry sales
Assist CPG’s financial risk management team with trade execution and analysis of various futures, options, and OTC markets
Respond to ad hoc data and reporting requests from senior leadership and business units regarding trends in grain and energy markets.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Finance, Economics, or Agribusiness degree preferred
1 years experience in related field with some knowledge of commodity markets preferred; quantitative and analytical orientation preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Advanced excel modeling skills preferred. Experience with market based excel plug-ins and research platforms (Bloomberg, Reuters, etc.) are a plus.
