Job Description:

What’s the role?

The Forecasting Analyst role will develop and manage load forecasts over the life of current customer contracts at half hourly interval accuracy. This role will enable the Trading team to make informed decisions and to implement hedging strategies to minimise market exposure. You will liaise heavily with counterparties across the entire Retail Energy team and may deal directly with various customers to obtain information regarding current & future operations.

Some of the key deliverables and responsibilities for this role are as follows:


Develop and maintain customer and portfolio forecasts for hedging purposes in Energy Market segments such as Electricity, Gas, Environmental products
Ensure all newly contracted, re-contracted, lost or de-energized sites are included in and/or removed from forecasts in a timely manner
Liaise with Account Managers to ensure customer forecasts are based on the most up to date information
Adjust customer forecasts based on information provided to include ramp up or down in usage, expected future outages, scheduled maintenance and changes in growth expectations
Ensure appropriate loss factors are applied to individual sites and adjust where necessary
Continually monitor how customer and portfolio forecasts are tracking to actual consumption and investigate discrepancies
Liaise with Billing & Transfers team regarding meter data completeness and understand the flow on impact to forecasting
Prepare ongoing Emissions Liability reporting and respond to ad-hoc requests from Trading for compliance purposes


Crucial to the success of this role is the ability to work collaboratively and lead effectively across multi-functional teams and interface with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, based in various locations, and being able to work autonomously.

Requirements:

What we need from you

To be considered for this role you will have:


A tertiary qualification (Bachelor or higher degree) Accounting, Business, Finance or equivalent
Industry experience or knowledge of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and Gas Market is desirable but not essential
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel & proficiency in all other Microsoft packages
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Good communications skills both written and oral
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight time frames
