GENERAL SUMMARY
The Sr. MP&A Analyst will work closely with the Manager of MP&A providing analytical support for marketing activities, including financial projections, results analysis, improvement recommendations, and results communication. This individual will develop pre-season daily sales and margin plans related to marketing activities and will be responsible for managing ongoing projections, trends, results and associated opportunities/risks. In addition, this Analyst will provide analytical support for Marketing expenses, other marketing initiatives, projects, programs, and metrics to provide insights to business questions/decisions. This individual will need to evaluate current business and forecasting processes to identify, recommend, and implement improvement opportunities. The Sr. MP&A Analyst will partner closely with other Marketing teams as well as collaborate with cross-functional partners.
REPORTS TO: Manager, Marketing Planning & Analysis
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Develop and manage daily sales and margin expectations/results for marketing activities
*Identify and communicate sales trends, opportunities/risks, and impact of sales changes, including relationship to the Finance and Merchandise Planning views
*Drive detailed post-event analysis of marketing campaigns and segmentation
*Deliver data-driven customers insights related to increasing sales, margin, profit, and customer loyalty
*Recommend test or roll-out changes to improve efficiency or effectiveness of future campaigns
*Provide offer recommendations based on analysis and business needs
*Partner with the CRM and Advanced Analytics teams to develop and continuously optimize multi-channel customer campaigns, including new messaging opportunities
*Develop and deploy processes and/or tool sets to facilitate forecasting and analysis capabilities
*Understand the results and be able to communicate the analysis and recommendations to marketing leadership and Sr. Management
*Develop and maintain trend reporting and KPIs that provide insights of Rewards members and Marketing activities to the business
*Develop ad hoc queries, analysis, and reporting surrounding marketing initiatives/projects, programs, and metrics
*Turn business questions into functional analysis - understand the business as well as the data behind the analysis
*Translate business decisions into financial impact in terms of sales, margin, expense, and customer KPIs
*Identify, recommend, and implement process changes to improve efficiencies and support our strategic objectives
*Demonstrate a willingness to learn and work hands-on with new technologies, processes, and partners
REQUIRED SKILLS:
*Proficient in MS Excel (graphing, pivot tables, data manipulation, formulas, etc.)
*Strong analytical skills, including data retrieval, organization, presentation and summary
*Ability to thrive in a highly quantitative, fast-paced environment with changing business needs
*High degree of initiative, personal responsibility and ownership
*Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills
*Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
*High degree of analytical curiosity including ability to identify and proactively solve problems
*Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines; strong time management skills
*Ability to work in a multi-team environment, in which various business owners and partners require support
*Ability to foster relationships with cross-functional counterparts and key stakeholders at all levels of the organization
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Experience with reporting or query tools (SQL proficient, Google Cloud Platform - Big Query)
EXPERIENCE:
*5+ years' experience in a financial or marketing planning, reporting, or analytical role
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*Retail experience a plus
EDUCATION:
*Undergraduate degree in business required (Majors preferred: Finance, Accounting, Marketing, and Statistical Management)
