Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Services Financial Eligibility Specialist I
(AACOG)
Performs complex (journey-level) benefits program support work; Work involves maintaining and updating member benefits records, assisting in applying for benefits eligibility, and assisting clients with retirement or benefits program inquiries; Work involves providing information to clients or assisting staff in the delivery of social services. May train others; Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Knowledge of the needs, problems, and community environments of persons with disabilities; of community and government service delivery systems; of case management systems; and of community welfare resources; Skill in conducting individual needs assessments and in the operation of computers and applicable computer software; Ability to negotiate services, to communicate effectively, and to train others; Knowledge of state and federal benefits laws, policies, rules, and procedures; Skill in the use of a computer and office equipment; Ability to interpret state and federal benefits program rules; May certify service eligibility, compute amount of benefits, and determine the length of certification period; May monitor clients in a structured setting; May transport clients to and from appointments; May train others; Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Desired Degree/ Job Experience:
Prefer one (1) year experience with IDD Services; Experience in social services work; Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred; Experience and education may be substituted for one another. This position is a Pay Grade 10, with a starting hourly rate of $18.22. This is a non-exempt position. Open until Filled.
