Global Procurement is a corporate strategic sourcing group that serves BMS's global business units by identifying and executing sourcing strategies to meet their needs. Beginning with concise specifications and well-planned negotiations, Procurement strives to maximize contract value while maintaining strict quality standards. Procurement continuously works with strategic suppliers to develop and capture additional value within the supply chain through productivity initiatives and supplier collaboration.

The Global Procurement Manager (Seattle Research Site Lead) will be responsible for leading and executing procurement activities for all site-relevant categories and sub categories such as capital equipment, repair maintenance services, lab supplies/consumables, research services, animal sciences, and engineering/facility services.

Our Seattle facility is an innovative, fast-paced, and highly regarded research center. This site-based role will maintain strong alignment to the research network strategy and initiatives across the R&D portfolio.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


Provide procurement strategic and operational oversight to drive support and business continuity of biologics discovery activities at the Research site
Ability to consolidate market, supplier and internal business data/information to develop and implement a cohesive, business-aligned, site strategy plan at both the category and sub-category level.
Ensure engagement and management of relationship with Research leadership by understanding their business needs and how it can be fulfilled from the marketplace, as well as, providing accountability for their alignment
Partner with R&D key stakeholders to develop a robust performance and relationship management program by facilitating supplier segmentation, setting value creation targets with the key suppliers, and developing key performance indicators.
Rationalize and manage an efficient supplier selection process to minimize risk and maximize value by leveraging E-sourcing tools and established buying channels.
Execution of critical site-specific supplier agreements for strategic projects

Ensure accurate reporting of procurement key performance measures (operational metrics, savings, preferred supplier adherence, customer service, etc.) for the site.
Responsible for spotting market trends and innovative technologies to educate key stakeholders on industry leading practices, R&D suppliers, and procurement solutions
As an integral member of the Global Procurement organization , help to roll out key end to end enablement tools/systems, processes, and templates that will improve the buying channel experience at the site.
Share best practices with Global Procurement colleagues and continuously improve site strategy with feedback and discussion on best practices


Requirements:


B.S./B.A. degree is required (life science degree is preferred). M.S., M.B.A., M.A., or equivalent master's degree in science, business administration, operations management, engineering, finance, or other technical field is highly preferred.
Experience: minimum 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, sciences, finance, or technical operations required.
Prior discovery research experience in biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, and/or medical device industry required.
Knowledge and proficiency with Ariba system is preferred.
Relevant industry certifications are preferred (CPM/CPSM/CSCP/CPIM).
Possess exceptional communication and presentation skills and be able to communicate to multiple levels within company, including demonstrated ability to influence decision making.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally as critical member of site team and larger R&D Procurement team.
Capability to lead projects/initiatives that have significant impact upon global and site business by achieving project milestones and objectives.
Has the ability to manage business complexities and provide road map for sustainable solutions.
Must have a strong business partnering orientation with excellent analytic, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
Must have a proactive, creative and analytic approach to continuous improvement in delivering procurement services and identifying new opportunities.
Demonstrated high degree of independence, requiring minimal supervision from senior management.
