Since establishing their London office in 1998, they have supported their clients on their key transactions and disputes both in the UK and around the world. The London office provides the firm's clients with a range of practice areas including corporate/M&A, dispute resolution (litigation and arbitration), private equity and venture capital, project development and finance, intellectual property (including IP litigation) and tax. They work for leading companies in a variety of industry sectors but have particular strengths in energy (including oil & gas, LNG, renewables, energy transition and ESG matters) technology, media, telecoms, life sciences and financial services.
The London office was recognised by researchers in the latest Chambers and Partners UK and Legal 500 UK publications, holding Tier 1 and Tier 2 Legal 500 rankings respectively for the firms Projects and Energy: Oil & Gas and Corporate M&A practice areas. The London office is also Tier 2 in Emerging Markets, for which they are noted for the financing of major projects in the energy and natural resources sector.
The Role
The London office is looking for two Associates to join its transactional teams. The transactional teams are contained in the firm's Global Projects and Corporate Departments and the work includes energy projects and transactional matters, with particular emphasis on upstream and midstream oil and gas and renewable energy; corporate transactions in the TMT (technology, media and telecoms), financial services and energy sectors; finance and project finance, with particular emphasis on emerging markets and the energy sector.
The firm is seeking one Associate who would specialise in finance and one Associate who would either specialise in one of energy projects and transactional matters or corporate transactions or, given the substantial cross over in skill sets and transactions, work across both those areas and specialise further later. Given the size of the firm's London office, the collaborative culture and the cross over of skill sets in some transactional matters, lawyers in the London office frequently work in multi disciplinary and cross departmental teams.
Requirements
Minimum 2:1 degree from a leading UK university or equivalent for non UKUK qualified lawyer, having passed all Law Society professional examinations at the first attemptPre-qualification training at leading City law firm or experience at a reputable energy practice including in-house training at a major energy company.
